That is not the issue. you are missing the obvious. political parties congress and the communist stood by waqf board despite high court order. The NIA found no evidence in more than a dozen cases they investigated. Indian fathers filing police complaints against the partners of their adult daughters for ' kidnapping' them is nothing new. If she chose to convert and cover her hair like it's pubic hair ,sucks for her but it's nobody's business but hers. When somebody tries to brainwash you , you have the option to say no. If you fall for it , it's your failure as a grown ass adult.

Senkumar is a member of the BJP. Enough said. The movie belongs to those one can condemn without even having watched it...for its obvious bias. Especially with a title that already gives the connection to another anti-Muslim propaganda movie (pushed into an alleged 'hit' status by tax-payers' money).

In the Hadiya case, her father was an atheist and left-wing, while her mother was Hindu, so she was raised Hindu. Ironically, he complained that she had been “brainwashed” by Islamists, yet he himself was later “brainwashed” into Hinduism. "Rules for thee, but not for me". He claimed that atheism had left him without values. If someone cannot sustain basic human decency without invoking God or religion, they were probably not a decent person to begin with. It seemed like a rather magnanimous way to cover up his own paternalism, misogyny or patriarchy.

The whole episode turned out to be somewhat anticlimactic for both Hindu and Islamic organisations because, although the Supreme Court restored her marriage in 2018, she later divorced that man and married someone else in 2023.

Amid all that noise, one important discussion was muffled: women’s autonomy versus parental authority. Imagine the frustration of a grown adult, in sound mental health, being forced by a court into her parents’ custody simply because she did not share their values.

Adults are allowed to make choices, regret choices and change choices. That is what autonomy means.
