12.35pm The Samra show has taken over the Chepauk stands today. The fans were up and about, and loud as they have ever been, as he drove, lofted, and thrashed his way to a World Cup century. New Zealand were remarkably sloppy in the field, and erred in their lines once too often to let Samra take full toll on their attack. But at the same time, this pitch still looks really good for batting.

It’s taken them a couple of games, but Canada’s batters have finally come to the party. They’ve posted their second-highest total in T20 World Cups, and it’s largely down to a magnificent 110 from Yuvraj Samra. The 19-year-old was the pivot around which the innings revolved. He began cautiously before shifting gears in the final over of the powerplay, taking Neesham for 18 runs to seize momentum. Dilpreet Bajwa provided solid support as the pair stitched together a record 100+ opening stand. Samra carried on even after losing his skipper, becoming the youngest centurion in T20 World Cups, and was dismissed only in the final over while attempting another big hit. UAE had put up the same score against New Zealand earlier in the tournament and it was chased down comfortably. Will it be similar today, or can Canada push them harder?
