I too feel the same. I'm blessed to be born without mobile and social media. Atleast I got the experience of playing outside instead of playing games on mobile, going out with real friends and many more things.
It’s crazy how our parents complained about us staying out to play and would need to pull us off of our games and away from our friends to get us home for food, sleep, tuition, classes, basically anything and everything.
Nowadays parents have to work hard to get their kids to leave their home once they get back from school. They’re stuck to their tablets or TVs or phones. The parents need to plan and spend money for play dates in malls with a play area and the likes.
We got dirty, fell, scrapped our knees or bruised our elbows, came crying after falling, hurting ourselves or arguing with friends… we knew life, we were free to play anywhere as long as we were near our homes and mom could come and get us in 5 minutes of stepping out from home. We even developed a good and strong immune system… these kids know everything that’s so sanitised, controlled and scheduled that it feels so mechanical and unnatural sometimes.
Kids are meant to get dirty, have stories of injuries and infections thanks to playing around with friends, get parents up the wall by running around in uneven areas… not be so boxed up that even their play time is scheduled and restricted so completely that they have no space for even begging and pleading with mom for those extra 5/10 minutes with their friends like we did.
Now if your hour is up in the play area, you leave lest you wanna pay double for those extra 5-10 minutes. Once out of there, moms are worried about leaving kids running around and also of them running into shops where they inevitably always want something or the other, not even necessarily a toy.
We are trading away what is natural day by day and it breaks my heart.
