GGTW vs DCW Toss Factor

The pitch at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara is expected to be a balanced surface that has recently trended toward being slower and lower than typical batting paradises. While the hard surface and fast outfield still reward good stroke-play, recent WPL 2026 matches at this venue have seen more success for teams batting first, as chasing has become increasingly difficult on the tiring wickets. However, significant evening dew remains a critical factor for this 7:30 PM IST start, potentially making the ball slippery for bowlers in the second innings. Consequently, the toss winner may face a tactical dilemma between batting first to avoid a difficult chase or bowling first to mitigate the dew’s impact on their bowling attack.

The WPL has always fostered dreams and Happy Kumari is one of the youngsters who has realized that dream this season.

This is more or less must-win territory for the Gujarat Giants, largely owing to their negative NRR. DC can perhaps afford to lose tonight, but will definitely not want to, which makes this a key contest.

It's a different pitch at the Kotambi stadium in Vadodara. it's pitch number 4 tonight, which means there'll be a difference in the dimensions. The left side boundaries will be bigger, and as you go along, the boundaries will become shorter on the offside and beyond square as well. But the straight boundaries will always be longer, like you get in other venues. The surface is a black soil pitch and it is pretty hard. There's been a little bit of grass in the center, so anything pitched short and if the bowler uses a shoulder, there will be a good consistent bounce on this wicket. At the start of this leg, we've seen because the wickets was on a little slower side, the fast bowlers got wickets back-end with their pace variation, back of the hand, and spinners, left-arm spinners have troubled the batters because they got a little hint of turn and a little slower off the wicket. They troubled the batters, last night it was 200, so we expect a high-scoring game.

We've reached the business end of the tournament and every single game counts now. MIW's win yesterday has meant that three teams are palced with 6 points each and only two of them can join RCBW in the playoffs. With 4 points, the UP Warriorz aren't too far away from the pack either. With 4 matches left, we're in for a thrilling finish to the league phase. Today's match features the Delhi Capitals against the Gujarat Giants - both teams are on 6 points each and the winner today can build up a small little buffer going into the final game - the Capitals are on a 2-match winning streak while the Giants stopped a 3-match losing streak by beating by UP warriorz in their last match. One team is full on confidence, the other team know they can stir the pot by winning today, plenty to play for as the league phase of this season's Women's Premier League reaches its climax. Toss and team sheets coming up shortly..

Ashleigh Gardner - We were batting first anyway, so it didn't really matter. Having Sophie in the middle-order gives us a lot of firepower - a forced change tonight, Dani Wyatt is out with sickness, Georgia Wareham comes back and Sophie will go back to the top of the order. We just need to get the process right and the rest will take care of itself.

Jemimah Rodrigues - We like to bowl first. It just gets a little better in the second innings, dew isn't coming though. The pitch looks harder and should come onto the bat better. We just need to stick to our game plan and execute well. 100%, you learn so much from every game, you can't get everything correct, but the team makes me look better 9as a captain). No changes for us today.
