Movie was houseful..and people were queued up for the next late night show.

Ending is so emotional..not a soul who wouldn’t get teary eyed. Though the movie could’ve been at least 15 mins shorter..last half n hr could’ve been trimmed

He is right that Sunny got - after the Gadar success - overshadowed by narrations about the Khan's and then Amitji resurrected again with Mohabbatein and K3G, but in my case, when I informed myself about Sunny and his career, I got well aware of the impact and his former superstar status... he was even called "angry young man" before Amitji got this label and was a well-reputed action star, too.

Although Gadar 2's quality as a movie can be disputed, it had been a genuine sequal to a very beloved film even though it mainly served as a launch pad for the director's son in the role of Tara's and Sakeena's son... So, the emotional connect to Sunny and the sequal was very understandable and Sunny got his status of superstar back.

However, the pull of Sunny as an actor without the nostalgic sentiment isn't genuine but a new narration to make money with his name and person and to portray a certain patriotism through him.

You rightly informed that Border 2 isn't a sequal but just another take on a war portrayed in Border. So, this time, nostalgia surrounding Sunny Deol as an actor is a tool used to make a seemingly mediocre Pakistan-India war movie a success. My friends hadn't really good things to tell about the movie and Sunny's performance as the lead...as I already wrote, the acting highlight for them had been Varun in his supporting role which I read also got praised in member reviews here. Border 2 seemingly has nothing to do with Border except for the casting of Sunny as the leading actor, quasi as a trigger to watch another patriotic movie.

The 'coincodence' of lately so many patriotic movies going in hand with election times and the praise of those dealing with the long-time enemy Pakistan is - to me - a political move (supported by the government) to keep the ruling over India despite all the things that rises vital questions about this government.
