Whatever... the moment I got to know that T-Series would produce and AA Films distribute, I knew that this movie would become a 'huge' success.
As it is so much about boxoffice success here, just a little take on fairness.
Generally, I've nothing against to respect the worlwide gross collection to look at the success of a movie, but as that is n o t a regular proceeding in India, just a little number game:
Since Brahmastra (budget given with 375-400 cr, but only worldwide collections of ₹431.00Cr in gross collections and ₹267.20Cr in India net collections) it had become the proceeding to refer to the worldwide gross collection to declare certain movies successful (at least Hit) instead of the former use of only the India net collection... certain movies = those where the makers felt the need to do so ...
Just as example: To name one who would have had a "Superhit" (in a year with already 2 Blockbusters achieved) if he had done the same but 'only' used the India net collections, was SRK with Dunki (deliberately got clashed with Prabhas' Salaar by the Salaar-makers) ... with a given budget of 80-120cr, Dunki had worldwide collections of ₹454.00Cr (India Gross: ₹272.00Cr, Overseas: ₹182.00Cr) in gross collections and ₹227.00Cr in net collections but one didn't contest the verdict "Hit" (a verdict which got laughed about by so many here in the forum and deamed as 'failure')... different treating is especially obvious when Sunny's movie Jaat last year (with a given budget of 80cr) achieved just worldwide collections of ₹118.85Cr (India Gross: ₹104.85Cr, Overseas: ₹14.00Cr) in gross collections and ₹88.72Cr in net collections and got the same verdict. I chose Jaat as Sunny is the resurrected superstar through Gadar 2 and 'flagship' of Border 2.
Considering only ww gross collections, even Jab Harry met Sejal would have been a "hit" with a given budget of 90 cr achieving ₹153.43 crore worldwide (with 64.08 cr overseas vs 'only' 89.35 cr in India, latter number saying a lot about the impact of the negative campaign at that time). With Zero, the overseas reaction vs the Indian one was equally revealing... (and I bet, King will be another attempt to make an SRK movie 'fail'... an obvious endeavour made since 2015 - with Pathaan and Jawan done with unprooved allegations/accusations after the success)
After hailing SRK to have 'revived' the business, this praise quickly got switched to Sunny
(and SRK's successes quickly accused of the now famous corporate bookings and pitched against Sunny's "organic" results)... no need to ask why...
If now some want to give me the 'spiel' with the 'bitter pill' (or something like that), let me tell you that Border 2 can do whatever high numbers for all I care... and joy to the fans
(and SRK's successes quickly accused of the now famous corporate bookings and pitched against Sunny's "organic" results)... no need to ask why...
