DC Women need 110 in 20 overs. If they win, they’ll get 6 points and a chance to get into the playoffs.

The equation is simple, 110 is the target for DC to keep their playoff hopes in their own hands, and with the quality they possess, they will back themselves to get there. However, RCB will not go down without a fight either, as they will not want their unbeaten streak to end in a one-sided defeat.

Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee are at the crease. Shafali Verma is on strike. Lauren Bell will open the attack.
RRR : 5 runs per over. 110 runs in 120 balls

Opening with a BANG ‼️ 4 runs straight of the bat smiley40

If DC wins in or under 18 overs, they go to No. 2 which is a big incentive! If RCB wins this match, they’ll go STRAIGHT INTO THE FINALS!

1st wicket gone!

Sayali Satghare to Shafali Verma, out Stumped!! Fine stumping. Full outside off, holds its line, Shafali Verma gets forward to drive, loses her balance, drags her back foot out, Richa Ghosh shows clean hands and whips the bails off. Once Shafali had overbalanced that much, she was never going to get back in. She was in great nick but has to go now. Shafali Verma st Richa Ghosh b Sayali Satghare 16(8) [4s-4]

Arundhati Reddy to Jemimah Rodrigues, FOUR, Grace Harris at long-on now gives away four. Should've been just one. Again through the hands. Full just outside off, Jemimah Rodrigues gets forward to drive, Arundhati Reddy sticks a right boot but the ball misses that, Harris goes to her left and bends but the ball slips away

Arundhati Reddy to Jemimah Rodrigues, FOUR, no slip and four more. Full outside off, Jemimah Rodrigues reaches for it to drive, the thick outside-edge flies away well wide of short third man

49/2 after 7.1 overs.

STOP THE PRESS! Delhi Capitals have brought the winning juggernaut of Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a halt. And it is not just a win, it is an emphatic statement against the table-toppers. With the chase wrapped up inside the 18th over, Delhi leap to second on the points table. Mumbai Indians were taken down earlier, and now the RCB as well. Vadodara is quickly turning into a happy hunting ground for Delhi.

Shreyanka Patil to Marizanne Kapp, FOUR, DC-W win comprehensively. End RCB-W's unbeaten run. It's a wayward delivery and well down leg, Marizanne Kapp sinks low, sweeps and easily beats Gautami running to her right at fine-leg, maybe Shreyanka Patil tried the leg-break there and got it all wrong. Replays shows that Shreyanka in fact bowled the leg-break.

Delhi Capitals Women won by 7 wkts

RCBW 109(20)

DCW 111/3(15.4)

DC-W ends the match on a high and move to No 2

An easy win and DC jump to 2nd spot after tonight. This win with 4.2 overs to spare boosts their NRR as well. Shafali started aggressively as usual before she and Lee fell in successive Sayali overs to give RCB-W some hope but skipper Jemimah and Wolvaardt steadied things with a calm stand. Since the target was not high, they could afford to take their time. The boundaries came and RCB-W's fielding helped too, they dropped a couple of easy catches and gave away boundaries with misfields. Jemi was not there to see her side through but Marizanne Kapp and Wolvaardt ensured they won with plenty of room to spare. RCB-W had won 6 in a row before tonight but this game they couldn't fire in any department. But they will take this off day when they have already qualified rather than on a big night.

Smriti Mandhana | RCB-W captain: For sure, I mean, in tournaments like these, you take these losses before the playoffs. So yeah, again, I think we did a lot of things right in the practice. We'll take all those positives and go ahead and I mean, we've just played a really good cricket, one off day today for all of us. So we'll take all the learning from today and come back stronger.
(on the pitch) Yeah, I feel the wickets are playing different every day here in Gujarat. Last match when we played and the other matches, it kept quite low. Today, it was a little more spongy, I would say. So yeah, I think we could not adapt to it. We all want maybe 160, 170, maybe 140 plus also was a good total. But again, I mean, credit to our bowlers. They bowled really well. There's some things with our fielding and our batting, which we'll work on and take those learnings.
(on their fielding) Yeah, I mean, as I said earlier, I think as a captain, I'll take it today rather than playoffs one odd day. We really pride ourselves to field really well. So today's definitely something which we won't be really happy with as a team. And I think, yeah, this fielding performance should hit us in general for all the girls. But knowing our girls, they work really, really hard and I'm sure that they're going to come back harder, practice more harder and come back next match and go out and field the best again.
(chat from you to the group after this game?) That's the only thing I said backing up there today, whatever was born's face, I was telling them that, of course, this is one of the toughest wickets we have got in the tournament, so really got that four, five, three, four wickets in the power play or something like that would really give us a chance, so keep it really positive, simple. Again, I mean, 20, 30 runs more would have been ideal, but again, I think it's a game of cricket. I'm really happy. I'm really impressed with all the bowlers. They were really wanting to have that one fielder and not being very safe. They were wanting to win the match, which again, all the positives as a captain, I'll take back.

(on Sayali and Bell) Yeah, Sayali's been brilliant for us in the powerplay, as well as Belly, I mean, both of them are making good combination in terms of one takes it out, one takes it in. And again, again, we started off really, really well, but yeah, there's some few things we can definitely get better at in terms of taking those chances. But again, as I said, with this unit of girls, I'm extremely happy with the way they're working and I'm sure they'll just work their way up.

Match Summary

Below-par batting show - An evening to forget for RCB. Nothing went their way from the toss onwards, and the strengths that had carried them through the season all deserted them at once. Apart from Smriti Mandhana, the scorecard told a story of struggle. There was no momentum, no fluency, and from 62 for 1, it quickly unravelled into a free fall, with RCB imploding to a paltry total, their lowest in WPL.

Tidy bowling by DC - With their backs against the wall and playoff hopes hanging by a thread, Delhi Capitals turned up in full force. Once they seized the initiative in the field, they never let the pressure slip and kept RCB firmly under their thumb. The bowling was neat and disciplined, with every bowler among the wickets apart from Sneh Rana. Nandini Sharma led the charge, finishing with 3 for 26 from her four overs to claim the Purple Cap.

Calm and composed chasing - Delhi Capitals were well aware of the bowling quality in the Bengaluru ranks and chose to take the aggressive route. Shafali Verma came out all guns blazing to set the early tone. Although a couple of wickets briefly slowed the charge, the partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues and Laura Wolvaardt kept the opposition at bay. Laura (42*) stayed unbeaten through the chase, while Marizanne Kapp (19*) applied the finishing touches. Their cause was also helped along by some sloppy catching from RCB.
