He has always done good roles and good movies .. most of the time. Or atleast they always struck a chord with me (barring Befikre and Cirkus). I loved 83 and his performance as Kapil Dev. I really liked Jayeshbhai also. So happy to see RS getting his due once again after being written off for a while. It just goes to show .. all this starpower etc is so fickle. In todays time, only specific genres are working - action, horror comedy, sequels, etc. Be it Ranveer or Ranbir or SRK or any movie industry really, you move away and do something even a little bit off-genre, and audience just labels it OTT-worthy.

I think the only place we can blame RS is his over-exposure phase where he was in every second reel and every second video on the net, with a lot of OTT and flamboyant display. He has reeled that in now, and that has definitely helped him gain his STAR perception - and now dhurandhar has just elevated that to the next level !!

Ranveer has a very good script sense in general and yes barring the two movies you mentioned he has barely faltered in movie selection. Even those two films he only did for the respective directors due to his close ties with them both.

He has my fave filmography for a reason as it is filled with good to great films and performances while being rich in diversity.

This is why I feel hopeful about Don 3 cause the script must be decently good for Ranveer to agree to it. His next few speculated films after it also seem to be story and performance driven films.

Not true, that's Ranbir. Padmaavat had success from Bhansali/Deepika. RARKPK had success from KJo. Ranveer is incidental to all these movies.

Ranbir will have Animal Park, Love and War, Ramayana, Dhoom 4, and likely his next movie with Deepika.

And Gully Boy is because of Zoya and Simmba because of Rohit Shetty? Bas kardo yaar, RK stans are truly doing too much with this insecurity.

He is the most daring, feisty, passionate, hardworking and talented actor who is naturally equipped with the required ammunition to be a good Movie hero be it the acting chops or the looks or the dancing or the screen presence- of this generation for sure...

Agree with this part:

"Ranveer has a very good script sense in general and yes barring the two movies you mentioned he has barely faltered in movie selection. Even those two films he only did for the respective directors due to his close ties with them both."

I even would not dismiss his performances in Befikre and Circus as he played exactly the characters he got from the directors/scripts.

I toh loved Befikre...Cirkus although he delivered the pitch set by the director for the movie, the movie itself was unbearable...

...I would add to "a good Movie hero" also an international recognised movie star smiley1 in what you wrote.

When - at that time the movie got screened - Cirkus was discussed, I was really angry about Shetty (thinking a 2nd time of him as 'shitty' because what he also did with Dilwale). He messed with really good actors script-and directing wise.

I still like Shetty for his unabashed vision of entertainment, but just being unabashed without any content won't give any entertainment even to the hardcore fans....Hope he learned his lesson...He and Farah Khan are the two un-serious directors we need when we want to enjoy a good brain rot movie....Hope they can make a come back with their trademark cinema...
