How do producers manage to run the show profitably ? It boggles my mind. And thank you for the detailed explanation, I never knew so much went behind the screens.
If they are utilising the 7 minutes alone, then it's valid. If they are cutting into the 23 minutes for more ads, then should it be a cause for concern ?
You’re welcome ☺️
Just realised that I forgot to answer the bold part. No. Longer ad time mean more ads, means more earnings and more revenue. More money means bigger budgets. Bigger budgets means that show regulars aka main cast get paid better, even new cast members joining the show can be more popular actors and veterans whose fees are automatically higher than any newbie, basically a much bigger cast. Better costumes, sets, probably even outdoor shoots which can include going abroad as well. Think Kyunki at its peak paying that huge cast with Smriti, Ronit, Hiten, Gauri lakhs per episode, spending a decent chunk of their budget on paying just these 4 let alone others in cast. Better costumes for them, shooting abroad in Australia and later Switzerland.
With a bigger budget for the current season they can get Hiten Gauri and more of OG cast back on a regular basis too alongside the other new cast members and maybe even shoot outdoors whether in India or abroad all the while increasing the amount paid to Smriti, Amar, Rohit etc.

Understood. Also instead of using body doubles for Smriti, and introducing random characters, they can focus on developing a decent story with the OG cast.
It felt like a copy of Kulfi Kumar Bajewala. They could have developed it better but since TRPs were low, Star never gave them the chance. These days like actors, shows are also doing a cameo. Here today, gone tomorrow.

Can’t speak for BDs for Smriti since she’s an active politician who has to campaign, have meetings like she did in London etc.
Rest, yes. They can focus more on the people who can act and write tracks around them

I guess it’s marginally easier these days, with technology easing the process. A decade ago, it must have been a constant challenge, with the entire crew having to come together every single day just to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Ironically, shows from ten years earlier often had far more substance than what we see today.
Nowadays the trend of copying bengali/regional shows made the writing trash as they hire average writers and can just copy paste and translate dialogues and script.
Only kyunki, nagin,Mannat(sometimes i watch) are shows which are orignal right now
SP is just copying shows.
Plus bengali shows had a big role in increasing doormat FLs and toxic MLs
just see jhanak it was pure BS.
yup and kyunki is a cash cow.Originally posted by: EkPaheli

Kyunki has much better costumes in comparision of other shows of SP.Mannat on colors has really extravagant coustumes for vamps lmao.
Colors is very generous in comparision of SP.
SP will never let kyunki off air soon. Its very profitable

Actually no sis. They are only copying the trashy Bengali shows. Bengali shows happens to be good, bas inko sirf toxic MLs & doormat FLs hi dikhte hain.
But yes, I agree. COVID has had a big role in contributing to the current state of entertainment. Not just in shows but also in movies and OTT shows.
They need to come up with original scripts. If regional channels with considerably less budget than Star Plus can write their own scripts, why can't SP ?
It showed alot of nothing. Flashbacks that are just capped to the first 1 -20 episodes of the S1. Same repeated episodes nothing after ANSH. No...
