I’m hearing it’s a really faithful adaptation and I could see how that may be true when I watched it. The characters were so well etched out.

Would love to hear from people who have read the book and watched the series,

No, I was actually planning to read it this month smiley36

Saw it in one of the book challenges and wanted to give it a try smiley9

I haven't read the book either. I heard the audiobook is great and I saw some rave reviews about the adaptation as well!

I haven’t read it yet but just binge watched the series and quite enjoyed it. It feels like a romance book adaptation unlike Bridgerton which is so all over the place. This one had the right focus on the main leads and that is so satisfying. You get to see their arc play out and not a whole bunch of side characters you don’t care about. And when they do focus on the side characters it’s for a reason which ties to the MCs too. Ooh, to think it took an MM romance directed by a man to show how a romance adaptation should be done 😄, and here we claim romance is a women’s domain 😄

I want to read the book before watching the show, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Social media is a minefield of spoilers though; I haven't touched Twitter or Insta since October, and even though I don't go on my FYP on TikTok, a lot of people I follow are obsessed with both the show and the books. I have nowhere left to go. smiley37smiley37

I tried listening to the audiobook a while back, but only got like 5-10 minutes in before turning it off because I did NOT like the narrator. Once I eventually get to it, I'll be back here to yap. smiley36

Idk about that audiobook though, I've never turned one off as quickly as this one, the narration was not it for me.

I've seen some interviews of the main leads and the director, and based on that alone I'm really happy that the existing fandom had people behind the scenes who really cared about this project. I feel like with adaptations specifically, I don't often see that.

I usually always read the book before watching the movie/show but the book had such a long wait at my library and I couldn’t stand waiting that long to watch the show! And I’m so glad I did. And most are saying the scenes are taken verbatim from the book with very little screen changes. I really liked the actors and what they brought to these characters & their acting choices. Like the YouTuber I follow said - falling so hard for a $10 budget gay Canadian hockey romance wasn’t in my Bingo card for 2026! smiley42

Since season 2 is only coming out in 2027 I have plenty of time to catch up on the books and do a rewatch to get my fix! Plus there’s always fanfics! smiley36

Oh oh smiley23 that's surprising to hear but yeah audiobooks are hit and go. Some are so good that even a moderate story looks like a good one, and cases like these!
