IMO they took the surrogacy route to start the love triangle drama again between Abhira, Armaan and Ruhi because they showed Ruhi getting attracted to Armaan again. They would have continued with it but thankfully the trps didn't improve so they ended the love triangle. Later they showed Ruhi was just a surrogate but biologically the baby belongs to Abhira. Since Maira was born they kept on trying to prove Abhira was the biological mother of Maira. They thought viewers forgot that Abhira can never conceive but atleast the online ones do remember what they showed. It really doesn't make sense to show Abhira getting pregnant again when they had clearly told she can never get pregnant.
