You couldn’t escape Kyunki back then if you tried. Your mum watched it, so did your aunts, grandmoms, neighbours. You would hear discussions in local trains when women discussed how poor Tulsi was cheated on by Mihir and how Ansh was such a rotten son.
In the markets you literally saw sarees, jewellery and bindis inspired by K shows.
Then Kyunki was a show which had foreign shoots like Australia and Switzerland. There would be crossovers with other shows.
If you lived in India and particularly the Northern part that’s predominately Hindi speaking, you could travel to literally ANOTHER state and find yourself overhearing Kyunki discussions on roads or watch Kyunki inspired clothes and jewellery in shops
There was no escaping the K craze of the OG shows. You got sucked it or thought they sucked. There was no third option, unless you didn’t speak or understand Hindi
I escaped the K serials only after going to hostel
Now I realize how much time I have wasted in childhood watching those serials
