I don’t have complete clarity on this, but I think Ekta wanted to bring in Hiten and Gauri, especially after their performances and the immense on-screen popularity they gained through Kutumb, and leverage that appeal for Kyunki. Once Karan entered the storyline, he was given a strong, well-defined arc and gradually emerged as a fan favorite as well.

I agree. The story really went off track with elements like the surrogacy track, bhoot track, the crocodile track, and several other gimmicky twists. They ended up turning what was once a grounded, emotionally driven narrative into something unnecessarily absurd.

Mihir’s affairs and the resulting kid count basically turned into a guessing game, I think. Considering the chaos, the fact that the count hasn’t spiralled further is probably the writers’ biggest act of restraint.

It’s also a blessing that the only twin reproducing genes in the family seem to be either Chirag’s or Prajakta’s because can you imagine what Mihir’s genes would have done here?

Parenting does not end with providing a name or financial security; it requires time, presence, guidance, and emotional involvement none of which Karan consistently offered. Raising children and shaping their values is a shared responsibility. It cannot, and should not, be dumped entirely on the mother while the father is excused from accountability. If both Bhoomi and Manthan grew up with deep flaws and destructive tendencies, then it reflects a failure on the part of both parents, not just one. Both Tanya and Karan were responsible for the environment, values, and guidance their children received. Blaming only Tanya while ignoring Karan’s role is neither fair nor logical.

Parenthood is a partnership. When children turn out well, both parents take credit and when they don’t, both parents must share the responsibility.
