As for Rishta, I didn't follow the show much in real time pre-leap...bas on and off kuch tracks dekhe the like the grand shaadi track....I only later went back to watch it from the beginning to get context for Abhira ki story....mainly I watched for Abhimanyu and his son ki story post leap and that was also a masterclass in gaslighting from the writers....lol biological baap ko hi irrelevant kar diya in his child's life cuz maa ki nonsensical victim act.....lol

I still think Abhimanyu is one of HC's best performed characters.....he got a huge amount of range to perform in this role. Baaki sabke apne apne thresholds hote hain of what level of intensity they connect to or not.

Honestly to me , it’s not just about the “age gap” on paper, it’s about whether the actors actually look the part and fit the character’s age and vibe. That’s why the Gashmeer-Sumbul pairing in Imlie worked for me as they both suited their characters perfectly.Sumbul looked like "imlie" and Gashmeer looked like "AKT"

In YRKKH, I felt Pranali didn’t quite look the part initially, considering she was meant to be around 4 years older than Arohi. It made the pairing feel a bit off compared to the story’s context. But then later,I saw Pranali in KKB4, she played Prarthana beautifully opposite Namik. Both of them looked and felt perfectly in sync with their characters, and the age gap didn’t feel awkward at all to me & they were just gorgeous together .

So yeah, it’s really more about character believability and chemistry, not just numbers. Even if there’s an age difference, if both actors fit the roles naturally, I connect without any distraction. Totally agree with your point about thresholds, everyone’s comfort with intensity, chemistry, and believability is different.

Agreed that Pranali never looked like the older sis in Rishta....but I do think HC-Pranali had chemistry together onscreen. For me, acting levels matter too. Pranali anyways is a very average actress IMO....Harshad was doing the heavy lifting in that pairing. As for Namik...lol well all I can say is that I find him very average as an actor too

Rest toh chemistry depends on script/direction too.

Yeah in fact ITV more or less writers medium hi hai....like I couldn't watch RuNak towards the end I am being very honest..as writing became soooo soooo weird and writing was so disgusting..

Haha yes, definitely DKP is a pro at gaslighting too but in their case also I'd say it's more an outcome of adapting Leena shows that their shows started becoming more toxic. Warna isse pehle Rishta was just known for endless shaadi functions...that was the show's main identity ki har week kisi ki shaadi ho rahi hoti thi and sab naach rahe hote the....lol

But adapting Leena garbage in Gen 3 ushered in a new era for DKP....since then they are giving Leena tough competition in gaslighting and toxicity.

I remember main Nbt dekh kar roti rehti thi , I used to cry badly for Mohan specially and Megha as well thinking kaun karta hai aisa apne leads ke saath...itna dukh kyun .....

But now when I look back NBT was never a toxic show, it had that old school charm,vibe , emotions in tact, always a vibe of positivity.....and comparing with today's show Nbt was a diamond

Another show where ML fills maang FL wipes her sindoor & says she can’t be his wife just cause he filled sindoor ML is in love with FL but she isn’t

3rd show ML tells FL that like typical serial hero he doesn’t keep fillings girls forehead he only filled her forehead cause his heart said him to do .. here ML has recent fallen in love with FL after they did pretend husband wife front of family .. she didn’t wipe her sindoor but she is not in love with him ( they r kind of funny couple )

& we have Rishi who each epi keeps asking J if she loves him & now she also those all epis says yes to him he told her he will divorce moon & marry her but doesn’t say to moon to give divorce now moon like Arshi started to call J as doosri aurat🙄🤦‍♀️😆😆
