I think with Bhagya series, ironically, the Bhagya of her shows started going downhill.
I would consider YHM as her great big success in the recent years. And even that has ended years ago.
Ekta honestly is responsible for many PH today indirectly - Shahi, Rashmi Sharma, Gul Khan and that’s not even counting those that worked under her banner and then started their own PHs including Smriti.Ekta had an eye for casting and chemistry. Her leads would look absolutely amazing together regardless of the show most of the times. She had rare flops which most of the fans of recent years wouldn’t know.
Shahi and co made the family of their leads seem inconsequential almost unless they were negative or comical roles. Ekta made almost all her characters have some impact on the show at some point or another irrespective of their shade.
Take Baa for example, she’s not shown just as the matriarch of Kyunki in S1 who has to occasionally appear when leads are busy or something but she was in almost every single episode of S1. Also, she had her own equation with almost all the major characters though they all treated her with absolute respect. We never saw her as a one tone character either whose only purpose is to be seen on screen for either kalesh or drama. The reason she was so loved is because she really came across as the Nani/Dadi we all had growing up - the one with stories, the one who had her views and one who was simultaneously the wisest person you knew but also felt like the friend you could tell anything about regardless of her age. She gave that homey feeling.
Shahi and all made grandmas well either evil saas or comic reliefs, Baa was neither.
Her shows were also not just about one couple but the whole family and therefore everyone mattered not just the leads. But most importantly, her leads did more than just stare and dance. They fought, they laughed, they cried and they pined for each other when separated. Her couples were more complex even if no one else was introduced as a third angle between them. Manav and Archana for example never had any other person as their love interest at all, but they still had their struggles and issues. Pratham and Gauri also didn’t marry anyone else, their story while finite was about two people overcoming their egos to work together as a couple once they got married. Post her miscarriage, it was about them dealing with a loss that hurt both and had them lash out at each other when they both needed the other to cry their hearts out.
Ekta created many different kinds of couples. Shahi’s, Gul’s all feel too similar to me. With Ekta, a Raman Ishita are different from Ram Priya, who are different from Om Parvati and so on and so forth. The stories might follow similar beats but the characters themselves felt different because they had personalities, their chemistry and vibes were individualistic.
There was more to them than just stares and dances on some song in every episode.
Just wondering what do you think of Karan Nandani

In fact he may try to ruin Mihir's business
