India is actually being surrounded it seems.

We have now tense relations with Bangladesh, Srilanka and Maldives. Even Nepal isn't as cool as it was...

Bangladesh has an issue with Indian hegemony and they are taking it out on their Hindus...

Large-Scale Unrest and Violence

The country is in a volatile political and security phase, with protests that have escalated beyond peaceful demonstrations. The unrest risks destabilising preparations for upcoming elections, and there are broader concerns about law and order and protection for journalists and minorities.

Bangladesh protests updates: Violence after activist Sharif Osman Hadi dies

Bangladesh is experiencing widespread violent protests following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent youth leader tied to the 2024 pro-democracy uprising. Demonstrations have turned destructive in many cities, including Dhaka, with clashes between protesters and security forces. Media offices, including those of major newspapers like Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, have been torched by mobs, stopping their presses in unprecedented attacks on press freedom.

🇧🇩 Political Context ---- Hadi was a central figure in protests that helped oust former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August 2024. Bangladesh has since been led by an interim government. The country is heading toward national elections in early 2026, and political tensions — especially around the role of the former Awami League party — are high.

🇮🇳 Diplomatic and Social Tensions Some protests have turned anti-India, with slogans and clashes occurring near Indian diplomatic missions; India suspended visa services temporarily at some posts due to security concerns. Violence has also targeted symbols associated with the old political order and cultural institutions, deepening societal divisions

Government Response --- Bangladesh’s interim leadership has called for calm, declared days of national mourning, and promised investigations into Hadi’s death. Security forces have been deployed to try to contain unrest in major urban centres. Key Issues Driving the Crisis --- Leadership vacuum and political polarisation after the fall of a long-time ruling party. Death of a symbolic youth and opposition leader, which triggered deeper unrest. Rising anti-establishment and anti-foreign sentiment in parts of the population. Attacks on media and cultural institutions, raising serious concerns about civil liberties.

Presses fall silent after mobs torch offices of Bangladesh's top newspapers
