I think it was always part of the plot. He would make a u-turn because of the tragedy but irreversible damage would already have been done.

It's like Mannat said to him. Something would happen and he would leave her at the mandap. Now what is he going there to do really? The damage is done.

I'd prefer if Mannat didn't shout at him but just remind him of her words before they got married and show him the mirror before she leaves him for good. But alas, we won't be so lucky.

Now Vishakha will do more damage, dumbass Vikrant will stand by her, also looking at Malla's worldclass panic attack, it seems ars will try to eliminate mannat once again for malla's sake which will lead to them shifting cities. I won't be surprised if they will try to try to divorce them in between the leap but won't be of use as there arent any legal papers of their marriage.

Mostly this marriage is brought up for trp aunties as well to remind them that dua wont be illegitimate. Vikrant better keeps this marriage in his brain engraved as this is gonna save him in post leap. Just like how khoon bhari maang and divine signals during fake shaadi gave mannat push to fight for vikrant against malla, in same way, this terrace shaadi and SR will give Vikrant boost to get his girls back.
