EDKD certainly hardly has VFX work to do, I suppose and not only Thamma is costlier because of VFX work but also because of the fees for the acting team.

It could be possible that EDKD's subject about obsessive love and stalking is responsible for the box-office succes. (I think, since Darr, no prominent release had this subject?)

Thamma seems to be a bit 'lame' on the comedy side and with humour initially been a usp of the MHC-Universe, that certainly is a downer.

It is not stalking, it is more about refusal to accept rejection. We have had films along similar lines like Ranjhana

Similar not same in terms of toxic lead pair and unrequited love and even the ending tbh

Maybe the makers got 'inspiration' from Anand's movie but probably made a 'cheaper' version (just supposing, don't know EDKD... couldn't have watched it yet)
