Arrogance exists in a place where there's no real talent, confidence does not need reassurance.

Ngl, she did a good job in the starting when the writing was .... Decent. It has become a ship wreck ever since she has started to ruin all the characters solely for the benefit of showcasing her own. Kabhi na kabhi toh yeh sab backfire karega na ?

Even Sudhanshu quit because of her.

The debate about seniority is as it is moot. When Kyunki started, barring Tulsi, Mihir and their generation all the actors were Gujarati stage veterans. Apara has also been on the OG show which started the trend of daily shows - Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka.

Smriti cemented her legacy while already working with stalwarts and earned her fame based on her chops as an actress. The show was an ensemble and every character regardless of their shade was allowed to shine and it was luck that later propelled them to something bigger if it was fated like with Hussain.

Sarabhai is iconic but it’s owing to writing and the fact that there are veterans whose lines are still more quotable and recalled than anything Monisha said or did. Maya, Indravadhan and Rosesh were the true stars of that show and carried it completely. It also helped that the show was made by J D Majethia and Aatish Kapadia who had delivered with Khichdi and people knew that they could expect something hilarious and crazy from them.

Kyunki was the show that established Ekta truly and she started this trend of saas bahu shows for better or worse, which is what Anupama is a part off, in case the makers forgot that little fact. Even the time slot was a gamble because no one knew if people would tune in to watch a show at all at 10:30 PM, let alone a family show.

Needless to say Kyunki paved the way for the 11:00 PM slot to also open up!

There are more nuances to this whole discussion than simply saying who started working in the industry first and thus is a senior.

I have never watched that show. Indian TV has a very limited pool and if I had to pick between Ekta, Gul, Shahi just one - I pick Ekta smiley36

Shahi’s shows are too blah for me and Gul’s are way too OTT for my taste.

I watched sarabhai not for monisha as she was too disgusting and childish.I liked it for its forward and classy take on Indians. They talked of veganism in 2005.

Smriti irani is not only known for kyunki but also for virudh and maniben.

Anupamaa is not a big change in ITV as itself its a copy of bengali soap opera.

RS started the whole drama and smriti hitting back at them is not wrong

Ekta gave the main foundation to ITV and RS is just a part of the numbers of producers in industry.Ekta is at top of industry.

Also using co actors to attack smriti irani is so petty.Cant she give a dignified statement?

So middleclass of Oopmaa.

Ekta has too many famous shows to her name tbh. Kyunki, KGGK, KZK (OG), Kis Desh, Tere Liye, YHM, I can go on. One thing I like about Gul & Ekta is the fact that they both treat the actors well, at least most of them. Shahi has no respect for them, he treats them like they are expendable which is why he'll never be among the greats, in spite of headlining a show which has created history in terms of no of episodes.

Ratna Pathak Shah was the soul of Sara Bhai.

S2 didn't work btw. And here's the interesting part. And S1 was goid but not comparable at all, to the impact of Kyunki.

Season 2 or sequels of most popular shows have either flopped or were mediocre to terrible.

They generally don't work.

Balika Vadhu 2, Saubhagya wati bhava 2, Pratigya 2, IPKKND 3, Saathiya 2 (once Modi's left), Sasural simar ka 2, BALH 2 (low trp), Tu Suraj main saanjh piyaji (Diya aur baati hum sequel) .

And then came Kyunki.

While Kyunki 1 made History, Kyunki 2 has defied history and created its own being a hit as sequel at a late slot of 10:30 pm.

Smriti is right, nobody will remember Anupaama 25 years from now.

This is exactly why RS will never be among the greats. Which dignified producer gives such interviews ? Petty to the hilt.

IIRC, Smriti was also the producer of Viruddh and Maniben. And while they definitely didn’t make the same impact as Kyunki, hardly anything will, even actors from those shows never complained about Smriti acting all uppity and by then she was already a big name and certainly could have thrown her weight around. As producer, she wouldn’t even have to need to consult someone or anything.

Also, Smriti has done a lot more shows! Some of these while Kyunki was still ongoing! So she’s definitely not a one trick pony either!

Hmm.. true. Gul’s shows are just not up my alley, but I have never heard any of her actors complain about being treated shoddily for sure.

I guess she’s a good producer to work with based on the fact that some of those actors also did at least one more show with her too.

But with Shahi there was always something going on in terms of controversies especially when it came to his female leads. Most people likely don’t recall but I think even the actress from Bidaai, Sara, quit the show because of differences with Shahi. Then came Hina and now the list of actors from Anupama who have quit the show.

Heck, I was a member of YHM forum for ages and we all were so annoyed by Anita getting a lot of screentime on the show as she’s besties with Ekta but despite everything no one complained Ekta of treating her actors and especially her lead actress Divyanka shoddily. When Divyanka broke her leg, the cast and crew were very accommodating of her and Ekta didn’t just replace her overnight because her lead was in a plaster for a couple of weeks. Nor was Ishita bizarrely kidnapped and allowed time to recover for weeks. She was ironically and hilariously kidnapped however onscreen when Divyanka got married IRL smiley36 kinda says something.
