Those early episodes of Anirudh proved he could pull off manipulation with elegance, sarcasm with class, and grey-shade charisma without looking caricaturish. His face-offs with Shrishti were chef’s kiss — sharp, layered, and addictive.

But dark doesn’t mean derogatory.

There’s a vast difference between playing a morally complex anti-hero and playing a downright vile character with no depth or boundaries.

When I said I wanted him in a negative role, I meant:A well-written, layered character,With psychological depth and strong motivations.Someone who does wrong things but still makes the audience feel conflicted.Someone massy and classy

Not some third-rate, brainless gunda who:Randomly ruins innocent people’s lives “in the name of love”,Has no sense of morality or Control, has no spine, motivation or personality, Indulges in child trafficking — like, seriously??Is perverted without being intelligent or layered....

And then has sudden “Hriday Parivartan” the moment he comes to know of his kid — kyun bhai, conscience on EMI basis hai? 🤡

This is not dark. This is lazy writing. And honestly, for an actor with his potential, it’s a massive downgrade.

If he really wants to go dark, I hope next time he picks a storm, not gutter water.

Krushal could play Anirudh cuz it was still a sophisticated character even while doing grey things. You probably envisioned him playing a sophisticated negative character. Lol

Now Krushal thinks he can pull off a rugged mawaali character. Unpopular opinion but he really can’t 🤷‍♀️….the writing for Aviraj is half baked and shallow, yes but Krushal’s performance is also quite put on. He Doesn’t look natural mouthing the lingo or doing those chapri gestures. He doesn’t look one with the skin of the character. When the artificiality shows, the performance fails. Not that his ego will ever let him accept that smiley36

Half the time it looks like Anirudh in a fancy dress competition trying to play act at being a gunda but only invoking cringe 🤷‍♀️😂….the character is hollow and evokes no emotions. As an actor when you aren’t able to evoke emotion toh what to say. Lol

He had gravitas, purpose, and substance. Even when he manipulated or lied, it felt strategic, not mindless. That’s what made people root for him despite his flaws.

But this new Aviraj character?

It’s not dark, it’s just cheap. There’s a difference between a layered grey character and a cartoonish gunda with bad dialogue baazi.

Instead of intensity, we got over-the-top theatrics.Instead of cunning, we got loud fraud, trafficking, and cringe posturing.Instead of power, we got parody.

Honestly, for someone with his screen presence and expressive eyes, this role is a massive downgrade. If he really wants to play dark, he should pick a character with depth, not just random villainy for shock value.

According to me, Anti-hero hona tha — meme material ban gaya.🤣

If an actor, who has played straight positive ML and then chose to play Aviraj, it will be considered a challange for the actor. But Krush as Anirudh Bose has mastered the art of bringing complex shades of a character to life, with finesse...for Krush, as you said, playing Aviraj is a massive downgrade. He expects us to praise him for choosing a negative character which he considers as something anokha...but the truth is, Aviraj is too simple and straight a character for him to play at this stage.. Given that it's a remake, we all know the character arc will straight away move from negative to positive due to the bachha..it neither challanges him as an actor nor challanges us to think about Aviraj's motives, actions and so called redemption..and most of Krushal's frustrations on fd is stemming from the contrast of his wish of acceptance for Aviraj by the fd and fd's lack of interest in it..

Seriously you sensed longing between Ishani and Anurag? I found them hollow since day one. Unlike Jhanak, Leena didn’t bother with any token character development or story background in Ishani and still you got so many feels for this Ishani ki lowe story? 😂…..what was there to connect with in an Ishani whose whole life flipped to Anupama 2.0 simply coz she was kidnapped by one Gunda? Come ON. Heights of laziness in this writing and you were feeling emotional investment in a bullshit past love that Leena concocted out of thin air? 😂

When did this Ishani fall for Anurag? In Jhanak she was just shown as BFF of Jhanak only focused on her studies. Out of the blue she has a past BF and we are supposed to swallow this? lol ghanta Leena is good at anything. She is SHIT through and through.

All she can do is lazy and senseless khichdi of her old shows. Ismein aapko longing dikh gayi toh that can only be cuz of lack of context and the actors. Nothing to do with the story/writing 🤷‍♀️😂

Arrey na na...Either ...you are not getting me or I failed to explain 🤣

One thing you got right is I honestly don't know anything about what they showed in Jhanak.....I had stopped watching that show "Jhanak" by the time Ishaani track came.,and honestly I have no interest to go back to that show to check..so I don't know the beginning or anything about their prior relationship before the beginning of the separate show as Ishani....

And no no no....you are not getting me...I didn't say that I saw anything in between their love...but all I am saying is This is her pattern...

I am smarter now ,and my dislike for Leena is enough so not see anything in a story created by her.....I am saying that her intention is always always always to cheat the viewers....

She only thinks of how to convince the viewers about the eternal love between the fictional couple and make them root for them...and she does that successfully...

As you said... people still are invested in a pathetic show like "Ishani" enough to give gaali to FL on yt and insta ... matlab irrelevant toh nahin hai fir bhi...as much as I want that woman to quit writing..

And to think that she writes such female characters while being a woman commission 's President...boils my blood.

I think itv story just fizzles out after approx 150 episodes or so bcz the makers have thought thru 'a consistent story' of only that length... after that every thing is just Trp-adaptation.

For greed of building trp early on, they rush thru the thought-thru part of the story.. beyond this it becomes a rudderless ship, unsure how to get into the right trp bracket to remain afloat if they haven't been lucky so far, or gamble for more if its good right now.. either of it coming from incoherence as i said no one thought for > approx 150th episode.

Even Bindi should have invested in to develop a foundation of how/why Aviraj became a blind supporter of Daya bhayya, invest little more time in why/how he zeroed down on Kajal as his target, how he manipulated Kajal into trusting him... manipulating Kajal would have worked in trp favor in fact as audience would feel attracted to Aviraj flipping good to bad to good opportunistically ... the actor is capable of portraying this nuance.. Aviraj scheming to send Kajal to jail should have taken a little longer..

I expected Aviraj would be the actual brain, the strategist of Daya Bhaiyya... and Daya needs him more than the reverse.. its disappointing that Aviraj is just a chirkut assistant taking commands from Bhaiyya...

Bang on 👏...

If it is an unpopular opinion then so be it...I am with you in this 🤣

Krushal excelled as Anirudh because even in his morally grey moments, there was refinement, restraint, and intelligence in the character. You could believe his lies and manipulation because they were delivered with a certain sophistication. That’s clearly where his strength lies — in subtlety, controlled intensity, and layered expression.

But now? He’s trying to swing to the complete opposite end with this mawaali/gunda act — and it simply doesn’t come naturally to him. Not everyone can pull off rugged, raw, street-style roles. It’s not an insult; it’s just not his zone.At least not at this point.....

And you said it perfectly — the artificiality shows. The lingo feels forced, the gestures feel performed, not lived. Instead of becoming the character, it looks like Anirudh cosplaying as a gunda in a fancy dress competition 🤦‍♀️😂

A badly written character can still work if the actor brings soul into it. But here, the writing is hollow and the portrayal lacks authenticity — so there’s nothing for the audience to emotionally hold on to.

When a performance evokes cringe instead of conflict, disinterest instead of intrigue, then as an actor, you’ve missed the mark — whether your ego allows you to admit it or not.

And also may be may be the writing is so bad that he is not getting any motivation to understand the non-existent nuances of the character and hence such superficial performance...I don't know..bcz he is a good actor...

Hope someday he returns to roles that elevate his strengths instead of exposing his weaknesses.

Haha yes I figured you didn’t know Ishani ki backstory from Jhanak or you would be eye rolling as much as the rest of us here about the Ganda joke that Ishani is 😂😂

Leena has no respect for men or women. Her writing is all just about gaslighting - showing women as dumb hypocrites playing the woman card in cheap/twisted ways and men alternating between CA-ing women or groveling before them 🤷‍♀️

Itne gande dimaag ko koi writer kaise bol sakta hai? She is just shit for brains who considers herself oversmart and always counts on trapping gullible people to watch her shows without realizing that it’s just a time waste

LoL...kvpavji, galti aapse hui hai that you expected some graaaand villainy of Aviraj instead if being a 'chirkut' 😁😁 unlike Leena and her PH, in case of Bindi, the channel, Palki and the PH, all have declared that it's a remake of telugu show Chinni...so most of us knew that Aviraj will be nothing but a sidey 🤐

You know there is One unfair gift Leena Gangopadhyay is blessed with— the woman knows how to pull viewers in. She’s a genius when it comes to crafting the kind of love stories where two flawed, broken souls orbit around each other like fate itself is dragging them closer.

I recently skimmed through Ishani, like last week just out of curiosity,as I had not seen anything from that show before....And oh. my. god.

Within minutes, I recognised the classic Leena pattern — one she had repeated across Jhanak and earlier with RuNak And you know what? It still works.Yes the difference is today we are no longer naive to invest in it emotionally and we are not going to be trapped in it... and we can see through her deception and cheating....

Leena understands something basic yet profound — love doesn’t always need hugs, kisses, or clichéd trip-and-fall moments. She builds romance with Longing stares filled with ache,Silent pauses that scream louder than dialogues,Incoherent conversations that carry the weight of lifetimes. Two incomplete people unconsciously healing together amidst chaos — like lotus blooming in swamp. She portrays absence as intimacy, distance as connection. No over-the-top gestures — just raw, restrained yearning.

This is exactly what she did with RuNak. And she did it again with Ishani and Anurag. She makes viewers root for them. She convinces viewers that they’re two pieces of a puzzle — pointless apart, poetic together.

And Then... She Pulls the Ultimate Betrayal.

Just when we think:“Ah, finally. Nothing can stop them now.”

Leena does what Leena always does.

She flips the entire tone of the show. Like someone switching from soulful Sufi music to loud DJ remix mid-song.

Exactly like in Jhanak — after that beautiful, intimate Kashmir night, just when viewers were floating in emotional bliss, bam — chaos, character derailment, emotional disconnection.

And now? She’s done it again in Ishani.

Viewers must have waited — patiently — for Saswat & Co. to face karma for torturing Ishani and Anurag so much. They must have imagined poetic justice. Dramatic confrontations. A cathartic downfall.

But nope.

Instead… instant “Hriday Parivartan.”The villains suddenly found God in their hearts. Like One group hug and all sins washed away. 🤡

And Ishani?

After being humiliated and emotionally destroyed by them — she goes back to that same house to serve them. With pride, no less.

Meanwhile, Anurag — the same man who stood by her through fire few days back when she was sooo desperate— gets attitude from her.

Why? Because apparently in Leena Universe, the female lead turning cold and irrational after becoming stable = character development.

Reminded me so much of Jhanak’s behaviour towards Anirudh.

In case of Ishaani here once she was no longer helpless, she turned needlessly cruel to the one man who never wronged her.

Leena just doesn't get that Being a Writer Comes with Responsibility.

Creating emotional build-up is not enough.

You don’t just get to Make the audience emotionally invest in a couple,Make them ache for justice and closure,Then pull a “Plot Twist Because I Can” — and expect viewers to swallow it.

A storyteller’s job isn’t just to trigger emotions — it’s to honor them.

Leena Gangopadhyay is undeniably skilled at one thing: making people fall deeply, irrevocably in love with a fictional couple. But she often refuses to respect the emotional journey she herself creates. Instead of resolution, she chooses redirection. Instead of justice, she offers redemption. Instead of growth, she delivers inconsistency.

And that — more than anything — is why her stories are intresting and addictive in the beginning and infuriating by the end....

Uffff .....the level of frustration I have with this woman never seems to die down ......I just despise her🤣

Asmi… I have a slightly perspective on this.

In a bit of hurry so will keep it short…

While Leena may know the way to build up but she has an absolutely amateurish way of guiding the story…By simply using some basic character traits of a character, she uses the most stupid way to chart out a path for the deception in the story.

Wil give you a simple example…. Ani being a jealous man was a thread she explored in the story but as time went by, Ani’s character is shown to be understanding person even if his basic trait surfaces on a few occasions. She shows Ani to be understanding towards Jhanak in respect of Aditya and that other guy from US ( I have forgotten the name) yet she uses an absolutely lame way for Ani to disown Jhanak’s kid in the end when all seeming hurdles have been crossed in the story. Leena only has one art - increasing episode count with mundanities with a semblance of reality thrown in that people can tune into without having sense of where the story is headed.

I know what you mean about the pulling in but if you watch for 2 days continuously you will see the pattern I mentioned above

I wish to write further on this. But I have time for only this that Leena is intellectually dishonest maker!!
