Pitch Report | Deep Dasgupta and Ian Bishop: This pitch has played a lot better than we expected. The footmarks are still there and I was looking for the little area on the pitch where a little bit of the leather came off the ball. You could see how abrasive it is. The way that Justin Greaves played at the back end of the WI innings, very orthodox, it says that the pitch is still very good in spite of all the cracks. The curator was saying that the difference between this black surface and the one in Kolkata is the clay content. Because the clay content is not as much, that's the reason we see the slowness of the pitch or lack of bounce and that definitely helps the batters. You can't afford to play across the line. Nothing much for the bowlers. One or two might turn, the odd ball might keep low.
Day 5 | 08:45 am local time: It’s the final day of the Test, and the final day of this 2-match series. If nothing else, the past couple of days have taught India and its fans one thing - patience. After enforcing the follow-on on Day 3, the Indian skipper would have expected a swift finish, but the West Indies had other ideas. They showed tremendous grit and discipline, stretching the contest into Day 5 - a rarity in Indian conditions. It began with the resilient stand between John Campbell and Shai Hope, and later, the partnership between Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales added further resistance. Despite Shubman Gill shuffling his bowlers in search of breakthroughs, the visitors displayed admirable character and determination with the bat. There might be a few eyebrows raised at some of Gill’s decisions, but India are now just 58 runs away from sealing the series 2-0. KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan have looked composed at the crease, and the pair will be keen to wrap things up quickly this morning.
