I will never trivialise anyone's depression story. All the money in the world cannot save anyone from depression and it is not upto people on social media to decide if someone was lying about it or not.

But, this is a serious cause. I would have preferred a professional in the field of mental health being appointed for the role rather than an actor. I know actors get eyeballs, but this is a serious issue.

Also, if anything, the government needs to work to make counselling subsidised in the country. Right now it is way too expensive. We need more govt sponsored NGOs providing free/subsidised therapy to people and more helplines. And also, maybe make therapy mandatory in schools, say a 30 min connect once a week for everyone, more for ones who need it. Everyone may not need it but it's not going to harm you, and I feel this is the best and quickest way to normalise therapy and get rid of the stigma, which unfortunately is still a big issue in the country.

It is sad to see people enjoying another person's misery just coz you 'believe' they are lying. Twitter is a sick place. A little empathy is important in life. One should not cross a limit, no matter how much you hate a person. (And, I am not just talking about actors, I see this even in real life/workplaces. People can be really cruel.)

Mental health is one of the big issues to conquer in world, especially in india where most people still think you can just move on if you become "strong". DP is a big name, her foundation has already brought out so much awareness, i think this is a great move.
