Well the bans are extremely bad. 
But I guess we are beyond the point asking ‘why ban?’. Javed Akhtar wasn’t allowed to come to West Bengal 2-3 days back and nobody protested here. Same happened with Taslima Nasreen many years back.
If a religion is controlling free speech and freedom of art, I would call it a sub-religion of its own - Fundamentalism. People from only the same religions (same religion as protesters) can bring change to that. Outsiders cant help much.
