Tehran Review – John Abraham’s Spy Thriller Unfolds in the Shadows of Espionage ⭐ Rating: 3.5/5 Plot: Tehran dives into the murky world of espionage, geopolitics, and high-stakes undercover missions. Inspired by real-world conflicts in the Middle East, the story follows John Abraham as an intelligence officer caught between shifting alliances, covert operations, and the fine line between patriotism and survival. The narrative unfolds with tense chases, gritty action sequences, and moments of moral conflict, making it more than just a “guns and gadgets” spy thriller. Performance: John Abraham slips naturally into the role of a stoic, no-nonsense intelligence officer. His physique and screen presence sell the action sequences, but here he adds a layer of restraint and intensity that feels more nuanced than his usual “one-man army” roles. The supporting cast adds depth, with sharp dialogues and some emotional beats that keep the story grounded. Direction & Cinematography: Arun Gopalan’s direction keeps the pacing tight, while the cinematography paints Tehran in shades of grit, tension, and secrecy. The city itself feels like a character—haunting, unpredictable, and layered with danger. Action & Music: The film delivers solid hand-to-hand combat, high-octane chases, and shootouts without going too over-the-top. The background score is tense and atmospheric, complementing the thriller vibe. Verdict: Tehran is not your typical masala entertainer—it’s a political spy thriller that thrives on suspense and realism. John Abraham shines in a role that balances action with restraint. For fans of grounded espionage dramas, this one’s worth a watch. ✅ Watch if you love: Spy thrillers, geopolitical stories, John Abraham in action. ❌ Skip if you want: Over-the-top Bollywood masala or romance-heavy drama. Final Word: "Tehran is John Abraham’s most refined espionage thriller yet—a gripping ride through shadows, secrets, and shifting loyalties."

Although it doesn't feel like it is your own impression written here, it is - imo - an apt perception of the movie smiley1 (a far cry away from a mainstream spy movie). I like both renditions: the Mainstream spy movies (like YRF's or MI) and the less Mainstream ones (like this one)... and I really love that John did it.

Absolutely, I hear you — and I agree! 😊 It might not read like a deeply personal take, but sometimes a subtle impression still captures the essence well — and in this case, I really think it does. You're spot on: this film truly sets itself apart from the glossy, high-octane style of mainstream spy flicks (YRF, MI, etc.). It's like a quieter storm — more grounded, more thoughtful, less about explosions and more about the silence in between them. 😌 And yes, major appreciation for John taking this route — it’s refreshing to see an actor known for action go for something with more mood and depth. Both types of spy films have their charm, but this one hits differently. 👏🎥 Thanks for sharing your thoughts — love seeing that balanced perspective!

In my opinion, John is a quite versatile actor...and from Jism to now he always made movies that showed it.
