I thought I would meet him, but the waiter I asked about him told me that they hadn't seen him for almost a year and that Ivan was doing all the work.

Marko did disappear and does not want his location released to her. No point in doing all this.

Ivan did help connecting the two and she was able to talk to him. Hopefully her words will have some impact on him.
