TBH, the story never made much sense to me. It feels lackluster. They write every other character praising the protagonist—calling her smart, empathetic, loyal, sincere, honest, fair, and courageous enough to stand against injustice—yet she fails to do the most basic due diligence before testifying against an innocent person in court? And on top of that, they don’t even show how she qualifies to testify. She wasn’t the defendant, she wasn’t an eyewitness, and she wasn’t an expert like a doctor, psychologist, or forensic specialist. She had no business being on the stand.
Honestly, the male lead’s over-the-top revenge is more believable than her testimony—because when someone is on a vengeance trip, they’re rarely thinking straight. They have a single motive and don’t care about collateral damage. I’m not justifying Rishabh’s misplaced revenge, but at least it makes sense. Bhagya, on the other hand, blaming an innocent person for a crime they didn’t commit—despite being portrayed as fair and honest—completely breaks her character logic.
And at least Rishabh didn’t stand her up completely and then ghost her like Nikhal, whom she and her father have so graciously forgiven and accepted as her fiancé. She was the one who hired Rishabh to play her husband. They both knew from the start that it wasn’t a real relationship, nor were they friends before entering into this contract. Neither owed the other any personal life information or secrets—it was essentially a job. Where Rishabh was wrong was in deceptively taking her parents’ house. But even that was shown as an exploitation of her brother’s failure to repay his debt. In a way, her brother also brought it on himself and their family. So, her and her family aren’t as clean and innocent as they like to believe.
So, to answer your question on whether she is justified in feeling cheated on by Rishabh—well, if she is willing to take accountability for her actions, then yes. If not, then she brought it on herself. Neither of them wronging the other absolves either one of responsibility.
Perhaps next time, they could have ChatGPT cross-check their screenplay. At least then it wouldn’t have this many loopholes and unrealistic scenes and characters.
