Tiger 3, I think the reason it did poorly was the story, seriously you show one of the best RAW agents as a lover and damaad, like what is this? Emraan on the other hand was great, the human-villain with no body, no tattoes, no muscles, just evil, they just butchered Tiger's character and hence it underperformed.

The negative campaign - most probably supported also from Hindi anti-YRF-side - obviously had an effect on the South audience...so another dividing measure seems to get success...very sad.

As far as I remember, it was Coolie which deliberately went into the clash with War 2...

Edit: Yes, I'm right...War 2 date was announced in March ... and then this:

https://www.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/tamil-cinema/coolie-release-date-rajinikanth-film-to-clash-with-hrithik-roshan-jr-ntrs-war-2-fans-call-it-salaar-vs-dunki-20-101743774134986.html

No way that Adi would be the one to avoid this deliberate clash. (reminds me, indeed, of Salaar/Prabhas pitching itself against Dunki/SRK)

Coolie team was smart, they knew that after Leo's not so great performance (Vijay saved the numbers), they did not want to depend on Loki's vision only, hence they clashed with War2 gained publicity and then casted Aamir, some more publicity and Aamir ensured they get some more screens in Hindi belt and South market was set by Rajni. And South PR is different, they will never do any negative campaign on a Rajni movie. So it worked in their favor, because the film is utter bad (reviewed by my Tamil and Mallu friends who paid $33 to watch the film and was disappointed).

How about he should’ve first of all got a better director than just hire his substandard wife’s brother who basically destroyed the franchise? I read several reviews and member reviews even but none of them said NTR didn’t gel in. Almost all of them have problems with the shoddy screenplay and cheap VFX.

As for the Telugu collections, the Andhra and Telengana ( the Telugu speaking states) generally prefer to watch the OG Hindi than the weird dubbed ones because most of the target audience can understand hindi very well…You should check the numbers of war 2 hindi in the Telugu states…Coolie is another thing because the OG was in Tamil and 90% of Telugu speaking people cannot understand Tamil.

Do the negative campaigners even fathom how much they harm the Hindi filmindustry when they help to support another movie they don't even watch/review?

I can understand (but not approve) that someone like Aamir has an agenda with YRF (albeit his ego-performance helped to destroy the movie) and isn't critical towards his own contribution to Coolie, but helping to negatively influence the success of War 2 is - in my thinking - quite shabby. The vaunt he made - until now - on the occasion of entering his sixties, says a lot about his character to me.

How easy to point at the director who even isn't responsible for the script. I don't believe one moment that Ayaan is a bad director...you even gave an argument for my impression by stating: "I read several reviews and member reviews even but none of them said NTR didn’t gel in"...

I don't think so Aamir negatively targeted War2, he helped Coolie as he was part of the film, negative campaigning was more from overall South belt as both Loki and Rajni are huge there when compared to NTR and as someone said, NTR isn't the problem in the film, problem was the subpar director and taking Coolie lightly, both due to Adi Chopra's ego. Ayan no way was capable of handling this and adter Tiger 3, not taking the promotions seriously, well they killed their own franchise.

But director is the captain of the ship. Such tent pole movies should not be given to directors who are known for small scale films like WUS, Ayaan is good but he can't direct a tentpole commercial movie I guess, but I can only say this once I watch the film tomorrow so my statement is based on the majority of the reviews. Not a single bad review for Hrithik or NTR, most critics and audiences who didn't like the movie have blamed the director or screenplay.
