All of you have very well explained the term "Something is missing".

Sonali Jaffer can write way better than her contemporaries.

I wish the writers concentrated on flashbacks especially when they went hop skip and jump wrt to the female lead.

They had the chance to slowly build RK's character arc too

Now there is psychopath who is literally trying to corner the leads. Harshad has cut his hair so there shouldn't be any complaints, yeah he needs to add those 4 to 5 kilos. Is it too much to ask ?

I couldn't agree more. The revenge is really stupid. Like he just decided to avenge her based on 1 testimony?! He did not even check or verify the facts?! Also, if he wanted revenge, what was all those monologues at the beginning that he'll do anything to make her happy? Just to derail the audience? Such bad writing. I didn't like HC as sunshine either (it exposed his weak acting) but the whole revenge is so stupid that I'd rather have sunshine HC back LOL.

Even now, the case is 2 days away and instead of finding evidence, he's spending all his time playing ghar ghar and doing romance with her.

SJ has improved, and HC-SJ have some really nice romantic moments directed for them. But pity, I still don't see the chemistry and I probably will never see it.

Don't get me started on the psycho ex. The writers need to decide what they want this show to be - some angsty melodrama or a sweet endearing love story. They're trying to mix the 2 and it's ruining the show.

At this point, I'm not sure why I am even watching.

Sonali Jaffar is on the creative team of another show I'm watching - Uff Ye Love Hai Mushkil on Sony SAB, and that has actually got some solid writing. That show reminds me of the shows we used to have a decade back. Stories with a soul, and characters you wanted to root for. Can't believe she's doing such a good job there and such a poor job here. Unless its another person with the same name.

The issue is that they're not focusing on building the story and characters. They're just throwing in some romantic scenes here and there as lollipop for the audience and some half-baked angst in the name of revenge that has no head or tail. The show is one mess.

WORD on HC - glad the hair has been chopped. Yeah he could do with gaining some weight but OK I'm not complaining. I'm just glad the hair will be gone soon. Not sure if I'll be able to last with the show till then.

Honest opinion - No, it does not have the charm of Bade Acche Lagte Hain, be it the first or the second season.

The plot, story and characters are all over the place. I would recommend you to watch it only if you're a fan of either of the leads or if you don't mind a messy story just to see some romantic moments between the leads. The romantic scenes are very well-shot and directed.

Then she is making a half baked attempt here, don't know whether it is deliberately done from the writers end

I remember how Bhavna Vyas wrote Uber cringe scenes during 3rd generation and the leads couldn't execute for whatever x y z reasons. She tried similar stunts during the 4th too..

At this juncture comparing Naya Season with OG BALH is totally wrong because the PH had come up with a new title however just to get legacy fans they changed it. I don't think Ekta wanted to go ahead with Season 4 as the characters nor the story has any relevance to the first one.

I also like HC with short hair so I'll follow the show irrespective of the story. I am sure the writers won't go haywire since it is a limited series.

Problem isn't the toxicity. Barring a few shows, most ITV shows post 2000 have been toxic in varying degrees. This show is no different.

It's the fact that this show has half-baked characterisation from the first episode and very poor actors (except the leads), something which BALH1 and BALH2 were at least decent in (when they first started). Also, majority of the Rishree scenes have been lollipop romantic scenes with no head or tail other than giving fangirls something to fawn over.

I'd rather take a well-developed toxic story over a messy, convoluted show with random "feel-good" scenes.

I respect your POV. To each their own, really.
