Don't know who really is responsible for this years decisions for the NA, but it definitely ignited controversies. Urwashi's role was a leading one, SRK's was labeled as a "consolation" prize and Rani's also got contested... and without any doubt some others are debatable...

Kannada film director had reported Swades of being a copy of his film due to which the film was not taken in contention for major categories.This is to those SRK fanatics who keep bringing Swades.SRK and Saif didn't deserve it back then.

"Swades is not a direct remake of any specific Kannada movie, but it shares thematic similarities with the Kannada film Chigurida Kanasu. Chigurida Kanasu, based on a novel by K. Shivaram Karanth, also features a protagonist returning to his village and working to improve it. While Swades doesn't explicitly acknowledge the Kannada film, director T.S. Nagabharana has stated that he believes it to be a "replica" of his 2002 film, and he was a jury member when Swades was considered for the National Awards. "

This time Ashutosh was a jury member...and I think that he may not have difficulties to lobby for SRK getting the NA now. As it is for a movie of another quality than those considered as worthy (like, e.g., Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Swades, Chak De), certain people are quick to label it "consolation prize" or completely contest it.

She and vijayaraghavan were the lead actors of the respective movies.But they were nominated in the supporting actor/actress categories.That's why Urvashi is irritated.
