There has been an outpouring of criticism on this year's National Awards for majority of categories.I have never seen anything like this.This has to be the worst National awards.

And who is responsable for that? Isn't the "National" Award part of politics since a certain time? Who exactly made this once prestigious award changing into "worst National awards"?

One of the comments I read reflect a part of my thinking about what the National Awards have become:

"One of the biggest drawbacks in this country has been the absence of a proper critical establishment for cinema, something that can set standards, influence discourse and properly give a spotlight. Letting govt be the entity to take up that space through NFDC or the National Awards or even film festivals may have worked for a while, but it’s fundamentally unsustainable." (emphasis mine)
