Preleap he was a monster (intentional writing for leap) and post leap not sure whether they kept that way intentional beacuse if they show him think of her then they have to show him bringing back the kid. So it was shown she lives in his memory but he does not want to think through it and blocks it. Conveniently living in a bubble kind.
