Who went on the offensive first? Well, Israel did. History didn’t start on Oct 7th. Israel killed more than 5000 Palestinian civilians in the 10 years preceding the Oct 7th attack. Since the beginning of this conflict, Palestinian casualties are 10 times those of Israel. Israel was created during First World War by murdering & dispossessing people who were living on the land..one cannot expect that there will be no resistance.

This person (Dr. Gabor Maté) is a Holocaust survivor..he was a passionate Zionist & advocate of Israel. But after witnessing first hand the humiliation, torture & oppression Palestinians face on daily basis, he turned anti-Israel. And there are other Holocaust survivors who have similarly attacked Israel for its treatment of Palestinians - molesting women on checkpoints, denying basic care, abducting children in prison camps etc. Fierce anti-Islam orator Christopher Hutchins had pointed out time & again that Israel taking Palestine by force was wrong since it was bound to set up a quarrel with the Palestinians. This has got nothing to do with religion. During the Ottoman Empire, Jews living in Palestine did not face persecution…it’s Jews in Europe who were persecuted, discriminated against since centuries…which ultimately culminated in the Holocaust that saw the genocide of 6 million Jews. Palestinian population is 7-8% Christian & they are as much anti-Israel as the Muslims. Despite the Holocaust, if USA/Britian had decided to carve out a piece of Germany to the Jews, there would be bloodbath. It’s not a joke to throw people out of their homes. And Israel did it most high-handedly. Look at this map…this is ridiculous.
We can condemn Israel without supporting violence from Palestinian side & advocating for two-state solution. Every conflict is different. Seeing everything through the same lens is not rational. It’s troubling to see our country being compared to a problematic state like Israel.
