I was also out that whole day and reached home too late and too tired to read much. Had really been in the mood to pick up an actual physical book instead of online fan fiction for a change... but alas smiley18

My nephew read loads and turned our home into a library zone because - "Shush! I'm reading! smiley23" smiley36 Made me wish even more that I could have been home early to enjoy the silence and the company...

I hope others here had a better Book day than us smiley36

We don't get the privilege of 'story times' like in childhood, now it’s just PowerPoint Presentations and the Case of the Vanishing Free Time. 😅 Honestly, adulting really robbed us of cozy corners and picture books.

Your nephew sounds like he’s living the dream though 😏

Hi Lizzie, I have a question. This question isn't related to the reading challenge. It's about writing. Is there any forum where IF members can write stories? I'm not talking about fan fiction. I know there's a fan fiction forum. I'm talking about original stories only. There's a forum called writers corner forum. Is writing original stories allowed on that forum? What kind of stories (genres and length) are allowed there?

Yes, Writers’ Corner is for original stories. There’s no restriction on genre or length but you have to the follow the FF rules (regarding mature content etc)

You can also publish your original stories directly in the FF section.

I don't write explicit content, so that's not an issue. Is writing children's stories allowed in both Writers' Corner and the FF section? Can I create threads and post my stories on those threads? Or do I need to do something else? I'm asking about the Writers' Corner. Regarding the FF section, I don't know how to access that page. If I need to upload a cover for my story on the FF section, can I create that cover using AI? Or do I need to contact IF's cover designer? I know one-shot, two/three-shot, and drabble are allowed on IF. Do I need to know anything else about the length? Is writing long-form of fiction, such as novellette, novella, and novel, also allowed? I'm talking about original stories here.

Where did you get the idea that only OS/ TS are allowed on IF? Any length is fine. People have posted fics that continued into multiple threads.

Here’s the FF section: simply go over and choose Add FanFiction (the green button). Then fill out the details in the title page, add chapter and you’re good to go.

You can post on the forum as well as the FF section but normally what most writers on IF do ia they post in the forum first, wait for responses and then migrate the thread over to the FF section. Migration does not cause your forum thread to get deleted, its stays where it is. Just that your story is now in the FF section too which is a more permanent way of preserving your story on IF (unlike forum threads that can get locked due to inactivity)

You can design your own cover and it can be AI generated, just make sure your following the A/S forum guidelines on not using morphed images etc. There’s also the option to post a request in the FFG shop and one of the graphicers will make a cover for you as per your specifications.

Actually, I saw OS/TS mostly on IF. I also wrote a question related to the length of stories for IF on Google, and the search engine showed OS, Two/Three shot, and drabble. That's why I asked that question. I asked something else as well in my previous post. Is sharing children's stories allowed? Or do the IF members need to share stories that resonate with adults only? I'm asking this because I never saw children's stories on IF. Do I need to choose the option "add fanfiction" even if I write original story/stories? I saw an option for beta readers there. Is it mandatory to choose a beta reader and write someone's name there? Do I need to talk to that beta reader first before writing his/her name on the form?

No you don’t have to write stories that are for adults only, children’s stories are very much allowed. If you’re posting in the FF section, make sure you choose the G option for rating.

We used to have a beta reading team on IF earlier, that option was added then to give the beta reader credit. You can still ask someone you know on IF to beta-read for you and add their UN as beta reader, but it’s not a requirement. Totally upto you.

Whether it’s original stories or fan fiction, if you’re publishing a story in the FF section, you have to use the ‘Add FanFiction’ button. I know it says FanFiction there, but it creates a new page with title etc for any story to be added. You can indicate what type of story yours is by adding tags at the bottom of the title page.

Okay, thank you. I clicked on my profile photo, and the drop-down button showed. I saw a button named "My FanFictions" there. When I clicked on that option, a green option named, an option, "Add fanfiction" appeared. Can I add my story using that option through MyFanFictions?

Everyone please note!

The April reading challenge will officially end at midnight April 30th whatever time zone you're in. So the last time you'll be allowed to log will be midnight PST.

Note that each person will determine their own end time based on your Time zone.

So if you're in IST, you will finish logging at midnight IST.

If you're in PST, you will stop at midnight PST.

I will be locking the excel sheet (for team TLTQ) at midnight PST and no more logs will be accepted after that time!

Captains will need to tally and post their team's final tallies as well as individual tallies (for those who read the maximum pages) soon after that (we'll give you a day)

So please make sure your logs are updated by then!!
