Have you read Primal Fear? It has a similar premise though books are vastly different. It’s a thrilling legal drama

I watched the movie with Edward Norton and Richard Gere and Norton was so brilliant in his role, that when I found it was a book, I went ahead and read it and then rewatched the movie.

also @itsShonali it's not about the fast pace reader you are but it's also about your brain capacity. I can't pick a book at least for the next 2-3 days if i've read one recently. My brain refuses to process alphabets

What do you consider as dark romance if there's no violence?

The genre isn't for everyone though. I used to feel weird reading violence too but now I can pretty much handle everything except cheating.

for me dark romance is not completely devoid of violence and abuse BUT it shouldn't come from the ML. More like something that has psychological tension, power dynamics, manipulation, and obsession.

Dark romance as a genre doesn’t have to glorify abuse or r*pe. Wdym that she was forced to sleep for so many days and then by the end she's all drooling over him?! That's so wrong at so many levels.

my moral conscience would NEVER accept r*pe as 'dark romance' tool'. Whenever i come across such stuff i'm like "GTFO of my sight you r**ist"

@B: true. I love subtle, caring and calm men. And if they're out of stock, i would go for men who go from grumpy -> well natured. I don't entertain r*pists or abusers in my list but somehow, once in a while, i do come across such books/shows

I dont know in what context it is shown in the book you're reading, and whether he even loves/cares for her or is just taking revenge from her, maybe it's not supposed to be romance at all, maybe it's a revenge thriller. Idk until I read it.

But dark romance mein I have across so much sub con/dub con and non con now that it doesn't even seem like r*** anymore. But yeah, a majority of people have triggers and hence it's not for everyone. Personally, I like my fiction heroes to be toxic.

With books like these, it's better to give trigger warnings at the start so the reader knows what they're getting into.
