Tbh the OST of this show is the third main character after Roshi and Talha for me. So many scenes of this show just hit different because of the OST kicking in at the perfect time to elevate every emotion we were feeling. Like one of my personal favourite scenes which was Talha confidently walking towards Roshi at her baraat, eyes intensely locked on her face the whole time with the "Tu jidhar jaye, dekhe nazar tujhko" part playing in the background. As we later found out, he had in that moment already surrendered to his love and was walking with purpose towards the girl he knew he was going to marry that night. That scene was made all the more intense because of the OST to the point where it gave me goosebumps.
So seriously, huge shout-out to Asim Azhar for hitting it out of the park for this one. Not only is the song musically gorgeous but also each and every lyric of the song depicts the turmoil of their relationship so perfectly. Plus the angst and longing with which Asim sang his parts and the innocent unsurity with which Qirat did hers nailed every beat of the emotions of the characters.
Like that whole section of "kyun mohabbat pe yaqeen nahi tumko" followed by Asim gently, almost affectionately replying "beqarar yeh Dil tera pagal hai, samjhe na" makes me feel all kinds of way. Cuz it is just so Roshi and Talha coded. Roshi being simpleminded in love internalizes his rejection of her feelings while Talha, who carries the weight of the world on his shoulder believes that as much as he loves her, it would never work out and Roshi's "beqaraar dil" is just too naive to understand what he really thinks.
And of course "Berukhi tou bahana hai, baat kahin uljhe na" is literally Talha Ahmed personified for most of the show. All his aloofness, his cold behaviour towards her was a pretense in his desperate attempt to keep away from Roshi but whenever woh "muskura ke dekhti thi", it would spell the end for him anyway. How rare is it for an OST to be this apt?
And then Asim goes out of his way to record the perfect reply to every doubt voiced in the OST and he does it with so much raw emotion that when that final scene happened, I almost wanted to close my eyes because just the song alone could give me perfect closure to their journey of love. It was just so beautiful.
No shade (okay maybe some shade) but I'm so glad they decided not to opt for the whole gen Z lo-fi music cuz that just wouldn't hit the same. Neither would something overly dramatic and emotional with deep shayari or painful alaap. So major props to the sound department of this show cuz they CARRIED.
Anyway, this post ended up being longer than I wanted to when I got reply, sorry. It's just that I am going through so many emotions that once I start, the words just keep coming out smh
