The IPL is a platform for possibilities. A Delhi boy can grow into a man in Bengaluru and make crores of people hold their collective breath. A Bengaluru lad can rediscover himself and the unfiltered joy of hitting boundaries in Delhi. And a South African can become a cult hero at the Chinnaswamy, and return a year later to potentially throw a spanner into the works of a team he gave so much to.

The IPL, though, is also a league of hope, of romanticism. Where franchises and fans, year on year, invest whatever they have and are capable of, just to find that fitting fairy tale finish. Neither the Delhi Capitals or the Royal Challengers Bengaluru has accomplished that yet. Neither has won the ultimate prize. Neither has even come close to it recently.

But tonight, and for the foreseeable future, they will dream. They will dare to dream. More ambitiously. More evocatively. More vividly. And perhaps…like never before.

YOU DON'T GO AGAINST HIM. HE IS THE CHOOSEN ONE. If you want he will stay away but if you go against his wish this is what will happen.

But before all of that, news is trickling in from Chennai that CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the season due to an elbow injury he picked up against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati a week or so ago. An uncapped Indian wicket-keeper, who wears No.7, will now take over the reins.

It's Match 24 of this season's Indian Premier League and we're back to M Chinnaswamy stadium for the second home match of the Royal Challengers from Bengaluru. They've managed to conquer the Eden Gardens, Chepauk and the Wankhede this season, but have struggled at home, losing their only match to the Gujarat Titans. But they've bounced back since then and will be a confident unit going into tonight's encounter. They're up against the Delhi Capitals, the only team yet to lose a match this season, with 3 wins out of 3 matches. After a nail-biter against the Super Giants from Lucknow, they've hit their straps with two convincing wins, albeit against teams that are currently in the bottom half of the table. The likes of KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc and Kuldeep Yadav are in excellent nick, Faf du Plessis, the erstwhile RCB captain, should be back in the fray tonight and T Natarajan is close to being declared fully fit. No wonder, the Capitals will start today's match as firm favourites. As the Royal Challengers found to their dismay against the Titans, the pitch did offer a bit early on and as such bowling first (a no-brainer at the Chinnaswamy) could be a big advantage, making the toss extremely vital.

Here's a snippet from Ashish Pant, our man at the ground: Hello from Bengaluru. Overcast skies, crowds all set and RCB chants filling up the air. What else can you ask for? Faf du Plessis looks set to feature after missing the opening game due to a groin strain. He was one of the first few DC players to arrive and looks untroubled as he goes through the warm-up sessions. Du Plessis has a terrific record at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium where he was captain for three years.
