Barter episode kya tha bhai ! Rajiv didn’t let us miss Usha Tai. He is a good chef..great at desserts..but he gets stressed so easily. Saw that in both the epis. And he isn’t someone who performs well under stress. Gaurav was trying to explain this same thing yday..he should take a pause and think before reacting. Even today he was after Archana that she isn’t listening, I know about British cuisine…she should listen to me...in the end Archana’s dish turned out well as always. Otherwise he is a great sport n great friend, everybody’s friend.

Both episodes entertainment factor was Gaurav. His bartering was hilarious..even Nikki couldn’t suppress her smile. Judges were in splits. Archana behaved like a total fan girl.. And today with lady luck by his side him n Teja breezed into the finale

Why did the judges decide the pairs today? I wish the pairing was also random. I’d really have liked to see Gaurav with Faisu or Rajiv. And with Archana, they’re such an adorable pair.

Anyway, Nikki got to pick an envelope with the cuisine first and I think she got the worst - Dutch. Most Indians haven’t heard of Dutch food and the flavours are so different. They made some mutton mince balls and fries with a tomato gravy. Don’t remember the Dutch names. Nikki added thecha to the tomato gravy. While Faisu’s dish was praised, Nikki’s dish was even called aloo Ki sabji!! Her potato’s were soggy - this after Ranveer literally telling her to soak them in ice cold water and double fry them. And the sauce was kind of undercooked. They did get the most coins from the audience though - 27 (both other teams got 26). But almost everyone in the audience was giving their coins for Faisu since they were big fans of his.

Gaurav and Teja picked the second envelope and got Indonesian. I think they had the best. Firstly, it’s a cuisine some people have tried. Also Asian flavors are palatable to most Indians. And Indonesian food uses many similar ingredients like India - tamarind, chilies, coconut milk. They made Gado Gado (a type of salad, with blanched spinach, bean sprouts, etc), they served this with chicken satay and the other dish Nasi Jingo (rice, chicken or tofu, egg, shallots). They got 26 coins from the audience. The judges liked both their dishes. In fact I don’t remember them finding any fault.

Archana and Rajiv went last and got British, which was an advantage of sorts for Rajiv. They made mince pies and jacket potato. I was surprised Rajiv didn’t make the mince pies. Also, wouldn’t fish and chips have been a better choice? Most people think of fish and chips first. Anyway, there was chaos, bickering and everything only from their team. At one point I thought they would be a disaster. Surprisingly Archanas mince pies were fantastic. Rajiv’s jacket potatoes lacked seasoning in the potato and barring his coleslaw nothing else was great.

The judges had a gold coin which was equal to 10 silver coins that the audience had. First, Vikas gave it to Gaurav and Teja, Farah to Archana and Rajiv and Ranveer to Gaurav and Teja.

Gaurav and Teja, became the first finalists and the others go to the black apron challenge. Nikki’s face was so worth seeing.

Also, Gaurav’s wife Akanksha was the first person to taste Gaurav’s dish. I found that segment to be a little cringe. Don’t know but it wasn’t like when others families came. Anyway, glad even someone from his family made it, since Hussain (and not his family) will be there for the finals.

Overall a satisfying episode. Icing on the cake would’ve been if the contestants were given feedback on their dishes. I’d have loved to see Nikki’s face.

They could have done top 6 finalist it’s not like they have never done before. In normal masterchef last two seasons I think 6 people in the finale. Obviously only one would win the show. From last few weeks Archana have been cooking really well so they could have take her too.

I feel the cuisines choosen were not apt. Whoever got the Indonesian one had a clear advantage because it is a recognized and loved cuisine by any Asian plus Indonesian food are known to be spicy ofc Indians will love it. Wheras Dutch and British food are not as popular comparatively, infact British food is criticized worldwide, maybe Rajiv-Archana should have just make Chicken Tikka Masala But at least Rajiv knew British food as he lives there but surprisingly he underperformed.

Dutch food, I dont think I know any apart from their bakeries! So Nikki-Faisu this time got a really hard one. They had a disadvantage despite Nikki getting to choose first

The cuisines selected should have either been all Asian maybe like Indonesian, Chineseand Thai or it should have been from 3 different continents. If they wanted to choose European should have choosen Italian or French at least those are way more recognized and popular!

I don’t think Faisu n Teja fans will let it go..she will forever be in their bad books
