This is a nice and informative thread for others.

I normally wait for next train if there is any delay from friends. If the transportation is delayed and If this is a one day trip I usually go to only the places that I want to visit to save the time.

Unfotunately I dunno any budget-friendly or good websites 🤣

I normally google and search food places around me, then it recommends me some good places.

I would suggest to take a small first-aid kit, get to know about the places a bit before exploring the new places, make sure you go in groups especially for exploring large plains or risky adventourous places.

For high-altitude locations (especially remote ones in India):

- It's always better to get a full medical examination before leaving.

- Keep luggage to a minimum (especially for treks), and if you are accompanied by kids/seniors, pack in such a way the every person is able to carry their own luggage, instead of the one person carrying a three-person load.

- Also carry small packets of mints and chocolates (put in everyone's individual bags) to combat nausea and get instant energy in sparse-oxygen areas.

These were the basic guidelines we followed when we took the trek to Kedarnath, once when I was 11/12 and then once with my 80-yo grandma.
