Shivani kept fast for the son she gave birth to, her Aru, she also kept fast for the son RK, she considered her Aru for years, just like Abhira who fasted for child Daksh she considered her BSP for months. Shivani an epitome of love also fasted for her DIL Abhira who reunited him with her son. None of Goenka ladies but Shivani Abhira's true mother figure fasted for her. Abhira and Shivani share a bond of unconditional love and acceptance which both of them never received from their in-laws. This mother-daughter like MIL-DIL bond needs to be preserved.
I felt the same thing where despite tom tomming, none of the Poddars or Goenkas ever felt the need to fast for their DIL's - be it Kaveri, Vidya or even Swarna. They just focused on their own children that their birthed. Rather Shivani chose to fast for the betterment of all her children, be it RK or Abhira, jo uske dil ke bachche hai, jinke saath she shared a relationship irrespective of khoon. That shows how genuine of a mother & MIL she is vs the one that call themselves as best maa and khara sona
