YOU’RE INVITED!”

(pauses, sways slightly, giggles)

“Okay, okay, listen. Picture this: The sun is shining, the air is filled with music, and people are laughing—like, really, really laughing, you know? Someone smears color on your face—BOOM! You’re part of the madness! Another person throws a bucket of water on you—SPLASH! You’re alive, my friend, truly alive! It’s a battle of joy, and there are no losers!”

(suddenly gets serious, puts an arm around his shoulder, whispers intensely)

“And then… ohhh then, my friend… there is Bhaang! The nectar of the gods! It’s like… it’s like your brain is dipped in rainbow juice. You drink it, and suddenly everything makes sense—the universe, time, why socks disappear in the laundry—everything! You dance, you sing, you forget all worries, and for one day, just one magical day, the world is perfect!”

(pauses dramatically, looking deeply into his eyes, shakes him slightly for effect)

“Brother, sister, bestie, MY SOUL FRIEND, tell me, HOW can you say no to this?! How can you miss out on the most vibrant, wild, ridiculously joyful day of the year?! Holi doesn’t care where you’re from or what you know—it only asks that you come as you are and leave covered in colors, happiness, and maybe a little bit of confusion about how you ended up on someone’s rooftop!”

(laughs uncontrollably, wipes imaginary tears, takes a deep breath, then looks at him dead serious)

“So… are you in? Or are you gonna let life’s greatest festival pass you by like a sad, colorless potato? Choose wisely.”
