Ranbir didn't 'mock' Anushka's anxiety. It was a friendly conversation where they were ribbing each other. He joked about her anxiety medication as if it was a quirk of hers. A tasteless joke yes but not mockery. In return she said he snorts cocaine. If she was offended by it she'd had made it known. And she'd have asked Koel Purie to remove that bit from the final edit. Anushka mimicked the stereotypical black woman in the interview. For some reason that went unnoticed. The really bad part was Koel pretty much ignoring Anushka and fluffing Ranbir. A looked almost annoyed about that.

Eating disorders don't manifest overnight when somebody comments on your weight. They're complex. There are many underlying factors which aren't all necessarily related to body weight or food. Many people use food for comfort , to feel secure and full, to fill some emotional void. With bulimia or anorexia it could be guilt. The body image issues are superficial compared to these things. If KJO commented on her weight in the context of a movie that doesn't count as body shaming. It's not as if he walked up to her one day and said " Heya fatty , why don't you stop eating ? " . If the movie industry has unrealistic standards for women we the viewers are complicit as well. When Vidya Balan did that Heyy Baby movie people made a big deal of her looking weird in those clothes when she looked just fine in them.

As a chubby child/teen I'm sure Alia's received plenty of unsolicited comments growing up . And the pressure of being an actress and a public figure must have made things worse. Both Alia and Ranbir come from dysfunctional families. Both have baggage. Like LuvBolly said above I'm sure living with him hasn't been great in that sense. He's low on empathy and quite spoilt. Not a great choice for someone with triggers. But Alia is not some confused abla naari who is trapped in a marriage with him . She chose ro be with him knowing fully well what it means to be him. His behaviour until then was on full display before her. He's a Kapoor. That's a family with very little empathy ,zero self awareness and lots of dysfunction . So it's not suprising he can be an asshole but he's not the monster some people make him out to be. Also let's not forget Alia has commented on other people's weight as well .

I would say childhood trauma + comments on body can cause eating disorder. Imagine the person is already sad/traumatised from some experiences. then someone or multiple people call him/her fat, especially in childhood. It will cause body dysmorphia, obsession with looks or eating disorder.

Actually Raha binds them together. Ranbir must be very happy that he got a child so early into the marriage. In his earlier interviews he used to mention that he wants a child when he's fit enough to play with a child etc.

If Rishi Kapoor was still there now, Alia might have had to work harder to please everyone. Now she doesn't have much to do. Neetu Kapoor is on her own...

Ranbir knows to balance between wife and parents. Neetu Kapoor lives n a different house now. She will have a floor for herself in the new Bunglow that they r building.

Anushka does have a sky high attitude for people to not like her. Ranbir has a better fake personality for public appearances. Also for some unknown reason he captivates women easily. So I would not blame the female journalist.

Her medication would be a private issue and none of his business or anyone else’s to bring up in an interview. It was disrespectful and a violation of her privacy. Her mentioning his coke habits was basically her way of getting back at him. They may have laughed it off at the moment but that wasn’t banter or ribbing. He was wrong to do that. And why did he think anxiety medication was a joke?

Anushka doesn’t always come across as the nicest or even the smartest person in the room. I haven’t seen the full interview so I can’t comment on her stereotyping and mimicking, but she can be abrasive IMO.

Doesn't the profession of acting require for one's image to be scrutinized? smiley4
