And one thing more

Patralekha ka example engagement ya affair se related nahi entitlement se related tha. That even after the character has done such horrible things, She is behaving as if uss se behtar koi hai hi nahi.

I’d rather not judge Shruti as a person since I know nothing about her beyond her public persona. An actor’s job is to portray, not endorse. Separating fiction from reality is important—both for actors and the audience.

Absolutely. If celebrities themselves keep justifying these problematic characters, it just enables lazy, regressive writing. When actors blindly defend toxic roles instead of calling them out, it sends the message that such narratives are acceptable—even desirable.

Change in scripts and storytelling will only happen when both creators and actors take accountability. If even the people portraying these characters refuse to acknowledge the damage they perpetuate, how can we expect the industry to evolve? The audience is already tired of the same rinse-and-repeat toxic tropes—we deserve better.

Yes exactly!

We are tired of these toxic and problematic storylines. The only reason we are still watching is to get some good moments between the main leads. To show a healthy and progressive couple with supportive family but instead we get this mediocre crappy writings that are getting more unbearable with time. And believe it or not these kind of scripts influence our households aswell. How will the mentality of toxic families, in laws will change if things continue to go this way? Majority of the desi audience is filled with mothers and aunties and all the other elders of the house who for a break from their daily activites watch these shows.

Starplus ki tagline is Rishta wahi, Soch nayi

Nayi soch kaisay ayegi agar hum anay hi nahi deinge?

The whole “Rishta Wahi, Soch Nayi” tagline feels like a joke when the content being pushed is the same old regressive nonsense. If anything, these shows reinforce outdated mentalities rather than challenge them. And you’re absolutely right—TV influences households more than people realize. When toxic family dynamics are constantly normalized on screen, it just gives validation to the same behavior in real life.

Audiences deserve better than recycled plots and problematic narratives disguised as entertainment. If they really want to bring nayi soch, they need to stop glorifying toxic relationships and start showing healthier, more progressive dynamics. But as long as TRPs keep rolling in, these writers seem to have no intention of changing.

So let me get this straight—I totally get that actors spend hours embodying their characters, which makes them naturally attached. When you live and breathe a role every day, it stops being just a script—it feels personal. It’s understandable that they defend them to some extent. No issues there. But Shruti doesn’t just defend Vidya; she rewrites history like she’s the show’s secret scriptwriter.

Vidya never used Armaan as a shield? She always stood up for him when KP cursed him? She was a good mother to him? Where? When? Did we miss an episode? Because last I checked, Vidya was passive at best and complicit at worst. Even Anita Ma'am doesn’t shy away from accepting her character's flaws. At least she acknowledges that her character has done some messed-up things. Shruti, on the other hand, acts like Vidya is the Mother Teresa of the Poddar family.

I don’t get why she hesitates to acknowledge Vidya’s misdeeds. It’s not like owning up to a fictional character’s flaws is some personal attack. No one’s asking her to apologize on Vidya’s behalf—just to stop making up scenes that never happened. Defending a character is one thing, but rewriting entire narratives to make her look better? That’s next-level delusion.

And let’s be real, it’s not a bad thing to play a flawed character. In fact, it’s what makes roles interesting. The best actors don’t shy away from the ugly parts; they embrace them. That’s why Anita Ma'am comes across as self-aware and fun—she knows her character is a mess and rolls with it. Meanwhile, Shruti is out here doing PR for Vidya like she’s running for election.

It’s exhausting. No one hates Vidya just because she’s imperfect—we hate the gaslighting that comes with pretending she never did anything wrong. Own it, move on, and let us drag Vidya in peace.

First time witnessing one character artist ( no vamp) irritating on screen and off screen playing negative role is fine why to justify it ...smiley37

Yes. An actor’s job is to portray a character, not become their personal defense attorney. It’s refreshing when actors acknowledge the flaws in their roles rather than trying to justify toxic behavior. Kanwaljeet Singh realizing his character’s toxicity after watching the film shows a level of self-awareness that more actors need to have.

Not every character needs a redemption arc in real life. If a character is vile, then owning up to that instead of sugarcoating it is the way to go. Trying to defend every role just because you played it makes no sense—acting is about storytelling, not personal endorsement.

Actors should absolutely be mindful of what they’re justifying. If even they start blurring the lines between fiction and reality, how can they expect the audience to separate the two?

I just saw Kanwaljeet n Kaveri ( Anita Raaj ) in a film together..😂😂

Exactly I feel the same so I refrain from watching her interview, and keep my distant for VV
