There's no good Bengali show on Star Jalsha. I can remember only one decent Star Jalsha show which became immensely popular in West Bengal. The name of that show is "Gaaner Opare" (On the Other Side of Song). But it's impossible to remake that show in Hindi because it was based on Rabindranath Thakur and Rabindra Sangeet (songs created by Rabindranath Thakur). In the show, the female lead belonged to a traditional family. She and her family members used to respect Rabindranath Thakur and his songs a lot. The female lead used to sing Rabindra Sangeet. On the other hand, the male lead used to sing remix versions of Rabindra Sangeet. So, when she listened to his remix version of a Rabindra Sangeet she became really irritated. Their music related thoughts and values were very different from each other. So, conflict happened between them. This show was watched by both young people and elders. There was a lot of music in the show. And Rabindra Sangeet is a type of music which has a special place in the hearts of Bengali people.

Also itv generally shows girls with career aspirations as gold diggers (which i feel bad because these shows validate the thoughts of trp aunties who look down upon career oriented women)

Yaar let me clarify this....our generation and where we come from is way different than what ITV brings and the ones you mentioned like balam, jhanak, maati and all.... They are actually based on village ki girl type culture.....I personally skip content like brothel, abuse aur other non sense like two timers....

I don't have problem with power dynamics as it represents majority as still even in our generation many girls who aren't good in studies or have an established career because of unsupportive bg follow as homemakers.....

I am not an experienced ITV viewer....but the reasons were just opposite first how they drag so much itna patience nhi hai secondly toxicity and last one was I used to get irritated the way they were portraying men many times even when they have end.... definitely above reasons were factor but I never saw things like this as frame wasn't modern so such patriarchal context with dramatic angle wasn't a true issue....I can understand your points though.....

Career oriented as gold digger matlab independent women shown as opportunist.... surrogacy mein kya issue tha....

Yes, you can watch this show because it was directed by none other than, Rituparno Ghosh. So, you might not feel disappointed. I think you know his name because you grew up in Kolkata. He's one of the most popular and critically acclaimed film makers of Bengali film industry. Unfortunately he's not alive.

I liked today's episode too. But kalesh is not my favourite.

Also ig aaj ka bts was the one jahan pe neil aur uski family sunday ko ladki dekhne jaate hain.
