Salman's acting is discussed as he made fun of himself unlike others (although he proved his talent in all action, romantic and even most difficult comedy films) ...

His contemporaries are mostly of his level of performers be it Akshay, Sunil, Saif, Sunjay or a generation older Sunny, Mithun etc.

Shahrukh was inconsistent, was excellent and great in few roles but even below than Salman in most films due to his hamming and overacting.

The only contemporaries who were truly and consistently better than Salman as actors/performers were Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan.

Salim Khan stopped writing films a long time before Salman's debut, and this selfish cut throat industry regards one until one is truly active.

Salman got benefits but not that much what people think due to Salim's connections.

It was mainly right timings, right films and above all Salman's luck...else Arbaaz and Sohail would not have been such huge flops as actors despite several chances during their brother's unmatched superstardom's era.

What I said about him being limited as an actor was in the context of why he couldn't find work immediately after MPK.; he played a type ( ,willingly gets typecast ) ,still does for the most part and that was imitating Rob Lowe and later Matt Le Blanc. ; and not about other actors being more talented or less talented. So if it took him 6 months to find another role he thought he could play that's in no way a sign of 'struggle' lol.

When he did his first film in the 80s , the director was rude to him during the shoot. Salman told the producer about it. The producer slapped the director and said he shouldn't be treating S that way. . No producer has the back of a typical 'beginner' , like that. Being who he was had everything to do with it.

Sooraj Barjatya himself has said he chose to meet Salman regarding MPK because somebody had said he was so and so's son.

Salim Khan got the Sippies to announce a fake film with Salman as the male lead just to create buzz. This led Ramesh Taurani to come on board and eventually a film did end up getting made with him as the lead. Salim was the scriptwriter, whose connection with Sippy Films went back a long way.

Luck was probably a factor but what looks like luck is mostly the star value from a carefully constructed image of the bad boy with the heart of gold ( and being an asshole for real did kind of help ) that twinned with his onscreen roles. He parlayed his nepo benefits and played his cards well , that's partly how he's stuck around for decades doing the same thing over and over barring a couple of exceptions with little to no talent. Idk about Arbaaz, it's not as if he never found any roles , but Sohail seriously had a deficit in the looks dept and there's only so much ' nepotism ' can do there. Abhishek did get roles over and over because he was Amitabh's son but Aditya Chopra was obviously not going to consider Shweta for the role of Megha in Mohabbatein or KJo for that of the fiancee in K3G.

Salman was very much a member of the insiders club . Being Salims son helped him plenty initially and later he formed his own 'connections ' that helped him get away with all kinds of shit an outsider couldn't have afforded to do . Pretty much everyone in the industry sucks up to him including his ex's husband and in laws. Yeh bhai nahi ,Nepo-on ka baap hai.

Is this even a question ? All of them are nepo products, but none comes close to as glaring as Ranbir and Alia and oh quite so undeservingly. Though both of them are good, there are MUCH better picks even from the Nepo gangs ! smiley44

As I'm all for nuances, the "no" for the topic question is an easy task. The question never had been to explain the level-difference between each of them (or even relative to other actors) but between Ranveer/Vicky and Ranbir. Not even the acting talent is of interest.

As I understand "level of nepo" as 'level of privilege', Ranbir - until now - has the highest in the Hindi filmindustry (even with political backing). None of the ones of the same age bracket or the current ones or the in-the-near-future ones have Ranbir's "level of nepo" in the Hindi filmindustry. Older ones like the Deols or Salman don't play a role anymore on the nepo level, they are a level of their own. And please, don't start a discussion with actresses...Alia wanted Ranbir for a reason otherwise... her privilege was a personal equation with Karan ...that wouldn't have lasted after Brahamastra...she wanted the easy way in?...well, I think she chose the hard way...

There has to be a lucrative quality to any Actor first, then the talent should come next!

Thanx for the applause...always happy to find something to write about smiley1...points (valid or not) are just points ... (I know people who even see value in points without words smiley2)

That was not about him not accepting different roles or the ability not to do a variety.

Salman stated he did not got any support or sny offers even after an ATBB and he had to wait for six months to get any film even after a great debut as things were not that tailor made for the insiders as well or for him that time.

Also the Khan-Daan was not in a great or very influential position and salim retired atleast a decade ago as a writer (nit a hero or superstar) hence no pouring of offers after a hit start.

The initial films Salman did have not typecast him at all infect he played a varitey of roles and attempted different films at his very start with MPK a teenage love, Baaghi a rebel.saga, SB a revengeful traditional character and PKP a full on action role him in a cop's character, all first four films and his characters were different from each other.
