Maybe the spreading of narratives to harm a movie beforehand backfired...anyways, none of those who did it, are trustworthy - neither in the past nor now.

Big films release with some corporate bookings and self buying.If others have done it why not us- is the new business model. It has now become a part of the promotional expense. There was a lot of talk in BOI about BB3 too. But then the film was accepted at went on to become a blockbuster.The tickets were sold..no matter who bought it. It becomes a part of the record.

Unless that correction is made in the records, everyone who can afford it,will continue doing it. It is only fair, especially in business and branding.

The way, the reception of movies in theatres has changed through the way the business is done is a biiiig contributor to the tactics used to give a movie a certain 'image'.

One certainly can't compare some brand companies buying tickets to distribute them among the employees (because they anyways sponsor the movie because of the brand used in the movie) or a fanclub buying the tickets for a whole screening for the club, e.g., with producers or distributors making deals with theatre owners that they should run empty shows or block rows of seats by negotiating either for future movies or by paying cash (also only as an example).

The focus gradually changed from former test screenings (to evaluate possible audience reactions) to media viewings (for media reviews) to then p a y i n g for favourible reviews (but also for negative ones if one wants to harm the rivalry in the competition field). Nowadays the positive/negative image-building already starts with the advance bookings and allegations of extensive corporate bookings or self-bookings - equally a tool to harm reputations of producers and stars.

My research has shown me that most of the allegations are on the rumour level, as much the accusing ones as the praising ones. Not one of the big moneyspinners after pandemic are spared by the rumours but very few got openly proved. Also the amount of money pumped into the image-building goes from small amounts to amounts crossing double-digit figures.

I don't think that it is possible to reverse this tendency, one only can stop it completely (I know that in one Indian state, every kind of the so-called corporate booking is legally forbidden and also gets punished.) That probably could give back some authenticity of the reception by the audience.

Otherwise boxoffice is just number games...

Komal, BOI and Himesh tried their best to satisfy their employers but unfortunately for them, kuch ukhad nahi paye Chaava ka. But there were other times when BOI and other reviewers successfully influenced some movies both negatively and positively with their fake narrative building a false perception. These 🤬units should not be given so much power. BW is destroyed because of such soulless creeps.

Day 1 is only about image building.Yes. PRs take over after that.

When a film opens at 20 cr..the weekend with minimal increase should do 65 crs?

Besharam opened at 20crs and had LTT of 56crs

When a film opens at 10crs..with minimal trending should do 35 crs..

Shamshera opened at 10 crs and had lifetime of 41 crs.

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

There is no other film film which folded like this.

I don't believe in a movie becoming a hit because of Corporate booking shit.....first of all even if there was corporate booking.....how much?? may be 25 crores....max 50 crores...thats it....Chhava is set to make 500 crores......what about the 450 crores....that is genuine ticket sale........Only someone with very little brain cells will believe that out of 500 crores....400 will be from Corporate booking.........Its the haters and people who don't like to give the credit where its due....talk about things like Corporate booking...ROI and all that to down play the success.......Vicky has arrived...let us all agree to it...
