There are many male lead characters on ITV who seem too successful, too arrogant and attitude wala only to turn out to be easy manipulated and whiny characters needing to be saved by female lead everytime (I think RK in Madhubala was the only character whose arrogant aura was maintained till the end and he never needed to be saved by heroine.). Neil seems the opposite. Baahar se ekdum meek and pushover lagta hai, but his anger is more quiet and simmering inside kind. He won't scream, but he'll put his point across firmly. Also, as of now, he doesn't seem the kind who needs to be saved/protected by female lead and does things which he doesn't want to for the sake of duty only. Tejaswini ko apni marzi se pursue kar raha hai instead of out of responsibility.

I feel at this time, he's at the stage of willingly being naive and ready to get fooled. Otherwise, he is able to be firm and dominate when situation demands like in his home, when his family was pressurising him to choose one of the girls and after Mohit's cardiac arrest, when Mukta and Tejaswini were panicking. Even when Tejaswini mocks him for his driver status, his anger is just beneath the surface when he asks her Kyon. Drivers samajhdaar nahi ho sakte kya Mam? Even when he found out Tejaswini's male friend at Nagpur didn't care to ensure her safe journey back to home, he thought, "Who am I to speak?" That's exactly what I mean when I said Param is the right casting for this role. He has a lot of undercurrents which burst through at certain moments, and it will be great to see that in Neil after marriage when Tejaswini starts crossing the limits of his patience. THere is a difference between being stupid and mild-mannered and most people on this forum can't tell the difference and are judging so harshly.

Tejaswini ko aj pata chal gaya ki Neil ek doctor hai.

Teju ke dad ne jo flip maara hai saying ki unko pta tha neil is a well educated guy!!

All those saying FL is nibbi and dumb and above their refined tastes, yes Sai and Savi were strong characters with ambition. But Sai at one point gave a headache with her constant "mujhe doctor banna hai". This FL is not ambitious for now but she is shown at least as having a passion for music and practicing her craft. Can't we let the story unfold without judging so harshly?

Last 4-5 episodes he came across as too bhondu because he kept up with the act which wasn't really necessary and his aprajita chant had thrown us all off

100% agreed! Bahar se sigma aur andar se kaan ke kacche ML who get manipulated in every episode is such a drag to watch!!

Yup. His expressions when Teju teases her with driver jibes and voice modulation when he asserts a driver also deserves dignity, indicates still waters run deep. If Teju betrays him, I don't think he'd let it go so easily. Apni marzi se bhale hi logon ko kitna bhi advantage lene de, but if someone would attempt to dupe him, he wouldn't let it so easily. Khaali, bewakoof dikhaana hota, to I guess Param ko cast nahi karte because his roles mostly have angry young men edge.

This girl (the female lead) also has a dream. She wants to be a successful singer.

Ig his character would go through a transformation post the revelation because that's the only aspect where he would burst out because he would've felt betrayed that tejaswini didn't tell him herself and he overheard it
