Uh... I used the mature content box to provide a choice for those who wish to read the previous post or not...

For some reason, the spoiler code isn't working for me...

though this version

dandi ramayan

looks unreliable to me

Sorry, couldn't answer earlier...

If I remember right, Prema Ramayan is a Gujarati version and Dandi Ramayan (I had to look it up... I knew it as Jagamohana Ramayan) is the Odiya version?

There are plenty regional versions that deviate quite a bit... Among the Indian ones, The versions that deviate quite spectacularly are Gond Ramayan and the Jain and Buddhist Ramayan, in my opinion... (among the ones that I have come across, at least)... The rest of the versions retain most of the events as per Valmiki Ramayan.

I was mentioning those versions which originated in India. Among those, the above mentioned 3 are the ones which deviated the most.

There are many versions from other countries and all of them deviated a lot. The countries Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Phillipines, Myanmar/Burma, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia have their own versions, and these versions are pretty much unrecognisably when compared to Valmiki Ramayana. Some versions even mention gods from other religions as part of the pantheon and Rama is the incarnation of someone else and not Vishnu.

Japan and China have used Ramayana in movies and dance performances. Japanese one may be familiar as the animated movie 'The Legend of Prince Ram'.

A group of Chinese dancers performed Ramayan on stage drawing praise from many audiences. Here's an excerpt:
