When J had expectations ( or at the very least questions) of Ani when they came first to BH, Ani was solely focused on his responsibility towards her even as he was showing care towards J within the constraints of their uneasy bond.
He then started to fall in love along the way but by then J had been hardwired into believing that this relationship doesn’t have a future. Ani was also not very vocal about his changed feelings. When the floodgates of emotion broke in Kashmir on both sides, the relationship wasn’t strong enough to handle the aftermath. Mistakes and recklessness happened and I would say from Ani’s side principally causing them to drift away. They stayed in limbo for a short period before both gravitating to each other…The tumour/ HA track was one where they understood what each meant to the other.. The only thing stopping them to come together was J’s inhibitions about the home wrecker tag even while she felt Ani only loved her. Now beyond this stage, I would liken this to the stage similar to post Kashmir recklessness on J’s part… where her actions for not accepting the love they shared has resulted in a difficult pathway for their love. In the post Kashmir, Ani had taken stupid steps that had caused misery but this time around it is Jhanak who is largely responsible for this..
if inhibitions have to be broken, pray tell me how could have Ani broken it? By leaving Arshi but that was the thing J wasn’t comfortable with? In fact even in the Nutan phase, her inhibitions remained intact with the added swag of “ Didi, remember I can take this all from you”
Again… it’s ok that she felt this way cos it was true only; J could take it all away from Arshi at any point was her justified pride. By then she was convinced of Ani’s love but couldn’t get over her inhibitions In fact even while agreeing to marry Ani due to his illness, she aimed to “hand over” Ani on him surviving the disease. Post HA, her pride in Ani’s love was unmistakable…..yet it broke and J’s sense of despair is understandable.
when the tables turned and she discovered that Ani was in a physical relationship, her anger and sense of loss was palpable.. ( though the narrative did not focus on it) Today, when Ani is in front of her, her frustration is coming to the fore about a lost love… My simple submission is what was J’s understanding about a married life for Ani? What was her concept of Amar Prem? abstinence conditional for Amar Prem is correct but from her side how could she expect that from Ani too while being bound in a relationship with someone ? What is she actually upset about now in terms of expectations from Ani?
If J chooses nothing to do with Ani in the future, it is understandable given the circumstances but now she shouldn’t express any form of love for Ani… if she does that it is meaningless in the scheme of things.
With Ani it isn’t the same, cos he is still hopeful that they may be connected to each other if fate wills…He is actually delivering on the premise of Amar Prem… atleast at this point of time..of wanting to be tuned into reports of her wellbeing from afar as the doors for anything else is closed now.I don’t know if this is a love story though anymore 😂😂😂😂
I like to add some things here...though the entire Anishit kaand and pregnancy as perceived by Jhanak was somewhat confusing...I think what makers here wanted to show that Jhanak felt betrayed as Ani assured her again and again of no rishta with Arshi and situation turned outto be something wlse...and for a lower middle class girl like her a big part of rishta is intimacy...I think J was ok with Anishit marrital bond before Ani confessed to her that there's no 'relation' between Anishit...she 'assumed' no physicality between Anishit after his assurance..and that's why she felt betrayed...in HA track also, she said that she didn't interfere in Anirudh's life till he was happy with Arshi...so physical relationship was not the issue...the issue was Ani's 'lie'..
...and yes Rekhaji...you correctly identified validity of Anirudh's amar prem which could somehow gone beyond tumhe paana chahta hun...pyar karna chahta hun...which Jhanak could not, atleast after Ani's assurance of 'exclusivity'..
..infact in the Runak conversation in Gujrat also, J said she doesn't understand his talks when he said he mistakenly slept with Arshi and he owned up his mistake by marrying her which doesn't mean his love for J is invalid...J, I think, believes in chastity as an essential component of love...that's why she is against remarriage..
...ofcourse, take this view witha pinch of salt...as we all know Leena can change the narrative any time even if something else is shown earlier..given the changes narrative, I tried to explain J's behaviour..
