In Armaan's case just because abhira is his mrs he can not forget he is alive only becaus of Vidya. So he is indebted to her. If he was an orphan neither he would have been educated nor he would have become student of akshara.

25 to 30 yrs the kid stayed with that mother. This mother not being own accepted madhavs another wife left over nishani .
