Yes both would have gotten their love short term, but such a scenario would have in time completely ruined their love.
If Ani accepted Arshi's baby married J and took her away from BH to live separately, only then would Runak have had a chance and its highly unlikely writers would do this. So what transpired is a better outcome. When Ani can shake Arshi off his life is whne he can have a good relationship with J. Both J and Arshi together as pyaar and zimmedhari will awlays make all three unhappy.
It doesn't always have to be marriage. If he had some support, he may have decided to support Arshi's baby without getting married to either Jhanak or Arshi. Jhanak could have listened to him and still gone to Mumbai for her career. Don't want to talk about what Arshi could do 'coz she doesn't matter to me and is irredeemable.
All three of them could've stayed single and sorted out their feelings/guilt/responsibilities...
